About National Museum of Singapore in Singapore
Standing as the oldest museum in Singapore, the National Museum of Singapore was built back in the year 1849. One of the four museums present in Singapore, it throws light on the country’s history. In fact, it was only later in the year 1965 that it came to be called as the National Museum of Singapore, prior to which it was called as the Singapore History Museum.
The original version of the the National Museum of Singapore was designed by its chief architect, Hey McCallum while its scaled down version was designed by J. F. McNair. The National Museum of Art Singapore is an architectural landmark in this beautiful country. Annually, it hosts various innovative events and festivals that capture the interest of art lovers from all across the world. The museum also holds a stunning range of events ranging from festivals and performances to film screenings and exhibitions. The permanent galleries of the National Museum of Singapore were all refreshed and reopened on the 19th of September 2015 for the Golden Jubilee of Singapore.
