Attractions of Boulders Beach

It is surprising to find penguins, who we know to be Antarctic creatures, over here in a hot beach of South Africa. But these animals are endemic to the South African and Namibian coastlines and have been breeding here for over a century. The Penguins first came to the shore of False Bay from Dyer Island near Gaansbai in the last century, and there were plenty of them. But because of commercial activities and marine pollution, by 1982, only two breeding pairs remained. Conservation efforts were made from the authorities and now you can see over 3000 birds fluttering and braying around the Boulders Bay Beach.
