About Tabo in Spiti

Located about 40 km from the Indo Tibetan border, Tabo in Spiti Valley is a small town on the banks of Spiti river in Himachal Pradesh. Located 3050 meters above sea level, Tabo lies on the road between Reckong Peo and Kaza surrounded by snow capped Himalayan peaks. Tabo in Himachal Pradesh is a serene, tranquil and beautiful little town housing around 9 temples, the ancient Tabo Monastery, holy caves and other places of pilgrimage which make it extremely popular among the Buddhist community.

Tabo is most popularly known for housing the Buddhist monastery which, according to legend, is said to be over a thousand years old. The Dalai Lama once expressed that he believes that Tabo monastery is one of the holiest and desires  to retire here. In 1996, the Kalachakra initiation ceremony was conducted by the Dalai Lama in Tabo coinciding with the millennium anniversary of the Tabo monastery, attended by thousands of Buddhists from across the world.

Located just above the Tabo monastery, the Tabo caves were used by Buddhist monks for dwelling in harsh winters and today, these caves are used by tourists as well as common folks for meditation. Numerous Apple cultivations can be found in Tabo where one can munch on some of the tastiest and crunchiest apples in the world. Ideal for walks and hikes, Tabo is a blessing for those in search of a thrilling yet beautiful adventure.

    • Trip to Spiti

My current trip experience with Travel Triangle was totally disappointing. The Travel Triangle Point of Contact(PoC) - Aniket Mishra was totally unsupportive. He was unavailable for most of the time except for asking me to pay the money. Neither did he provide any guidance nor answers to any of my queries. His only response was either "I will get back " or "Please talk to my colleague - Rohan". In the end, he kept my invoice open inspite of me telling him that I have paid the balance amount in cash to my travel agent which was suggested by Travel Triangle. Ultimately, I had to speak directly to Rohan to get my invoice closed. The tour operator suggested by Travel Triangle was good.

    • Trip to Spiti

First of all we would like to tell you that we all are very thankful to you to plan such a wonderful trip. Considering the logistics, coordination and terrain of the region, the efforts that were put down by you are really commendable. We believe that you will keep on serving other customers/travellers with same dedication and commitment. Overall our trip were with in the range of expectations. We would like to point out some points/feedback about our trip so that it can help you to serve/plan other people better What went good on the trip: Itinerary for the trip was well planned as per the region of spiti valley. We covered most of the places considering the time that we had for the trip. You also supported us in customising the itinerary as per our convenience. The accommodation(hotels/tents) that was provided was nice and comfortable. Rooms, bedding and washroom cleanliness was up to the mark. The tents at chandratal lake was inferior as compared to other locations but we can understand the remote location of chandratal lake can be the reason for this. The location and views from hotels was mesmerizing specially at Sangla and Kalpa. The staff was also very courteous at all the locations considering we had a 1.5 years old also kid with us. The driver of traveller was very skilled and knew the manoeuvring of vehicle in narrow hilly regions like a professional. He drove with utmost perfection in hairpin bends and rough roads during the trip. We are also very thankful for the unplanned complimentary stay provided by you on the last day at Manali. Although it was for 1 hour only but it was very helpful to get freshen up and repack the stuff. What could have been done better: Although it was mentioned in the itinerary and we were also running short on time but we would have really appreciated if we would have covered the Pin valley considering its natural beauty. We think many travellers similar to our itinerary will always miss it, no matter how so ever they plan it. The driver that was assigned to us was driver only. He never acted as the guide in any sense in order to make us familiar with the places in and around of our stay during the trip. It was just a point to point travel with him with no information or knowledge sharing in between. In Kaza, we requested him to take us to a place which was merely 3 km away. He simply refused our request stating baseless reasons like he will take us tomorrow or I am sleeping now(in daytime). It was really a setback for us as Kaza was the only place where we had some free time to explore nearby places. Tempo traveller could have been in a better condition for such trips. The interiors were in average condition and many times we have to stop for minor defects like oil leakage. The tasks like collecting water, air pressure checking, fuelling the vehicle could have been done before we boarding the vehicle thus saving our time for traveling. I hope you will take above points as constructive feedback to serve future customers better. It was wonderful being in touch with you.

IMM ventures was great. First Ambika helped us with itinerary and hotels. Then Anil bhai was with us throughout the tour. Anil bhai was really helpful and his team was great to. We actually made friends. The hotels was good bikes was also good. Spiti valley has mobile coverage problems but still everything was managed. Even the route in spiti valley have weather problems road blocks but Anil bhai had a plan B always helped us to complete the spiti circuit. Anil bhai even helped us on the worst road condition he himself drove the bike when needed. His team was also great helpful and friendly. Henceforth IMM ventures will be my first choice if I visit Noth India. Thank you IMM ventures Team.

    • Trip to Spiti

I would like to share my experience of Spiti Tour with Holidays Icon. Here we come in touch with our tour coordinator Ms. Diksha Bragta, a polite , professional and talkative lady. She never ever fail to respond us during day one to last of our trip. She arranged Excellent rooms and transportation for us... Mukesh, a friendly Driver of Innova Crysta was introvert in nature but faithful to his duty.... Another person from Holiday Icon was Ashwini Verma, a well profit loss calculator. We hire them for 6 day and 5 night tour of Spiti including Chandratal camp. Everything was good and fine at the time of beginning and as per requirements of our planning. Our predecided route was via Rohtang Pass and Kunzum pass, but weather didn't allow us as Rohtang Route was closed ( so before plan the journey make sure Rohtang Route is open or not as BRO official declaration ). Now the complete itinerary was changed to the new longest route via Kalpa , Taboo, Kaza. But during journey we strongly feel that at least 7 or more days are required for Spiti Adventure Tour because less number of days automatically increases the time of travel on hilly roads. We started from Manali and finished it at Manali. Hotels review on Internets are enough to judge their services, Here we are also satisfied with them. On the tribal area of Himanchal there are less number of availability of Hotels so there are no more options to choose better one. The evening and night temperature was falling fast and extremely cold and day temperature was pleasantly good. One of our friend got mountain sickness ( breathing problem ) after altitude of Sangla. We have to rescheduled our plan and Journey near to Kalpa. So we return back to Manali again. During this phase The Holiday Icons rearranged Hotels for us in Manali and we have to pay additional for cancelled hotels in Spiti ( That was actually the total promised cost of Hotels in itinerary without taking their services ). Now the Spiti Tour was completely converted into Manali Trip with additional cost with cancellation of Spiti Hotels. We enjoyed the Manali Locals, Rohatang Pass, Solang Valley, mall roads etc. Now we regret to choose the less number of days for Spiti Tour.

    • Trip to Spiti

What was intended to be a soul searching trip turned out to be a worst nightmare. The travel agents were pathetic in handling their duties. There was absolutely no communication from their end w.r.t the change of accomodation or the reporting time unless asked for. There was mismanagement from day 1 till the last day of the trip. The accomodation on the last day in Shimla was horrible. There were heaps of hair on the floor and even the dining area wasn't clean. Only the 4th day sailed smoothly. Addressing the elephant in the room - convincing the travel agents to take us to kunzum pass was an uphill task (inspite of the place being included in our itinerary) 2 weeks before the trip the travel agent informed us about ruling out Chandraral lake, kunzum pass and rohtang pass from our itinerary. Chandraral lake and rohtang pass exclusion was understandable as it was subject to the opening of the roads, whereas, there was no proper explanation for striking out kunzum top when there were other tourist vehicles visiting the same. I constantly kept in touch with Ambika to include the visit the kunzum pass and she assured me it would be done until the day before the trip began. As soon as the tour started, all the co-travellers insisted on visiting kunzum pass and communicated the same to the travel agent. Ambika assured to get back with the update every single time, but failed. Finally, before beginning our journey to kaza from pin valley, we had to take a call on visiting kunzum pass otherwise it would've been impossible to cover the other places in kaza as well as kunzum pass within a period of 2 days. Even after reaching kaza, there was absolutely no response from the travel agents and we literally had to stop our vehicle on the middle of road to know the status of our trip since we had no idea about how/where to proceed. The travel agents kept giving every possible reason to not take us to kunzum pass. When I had an altercation with of the supervisors, he threatened to terminate my trip. He made absolutely no sense when I was just asking for what I had paid for. If they really had the intentions of taking us to kunzum pass right from the beginning, they would not have waited till the last minute and given multiple reasons for it to not happen. The itinerary that was approved by me on travel triangle is different from the final updated voucher that was followed for the last three days of the trip. I hope travel triangle chooses their associations wisely and not ruin the trip that people dream of for months together.

Local travel agent was too bad, TT had no control over them. My TT partner also avoided picking my calls and resolving my issues. This message was my first and last TT trip. TT is no different than a local road side travel agent who make false promises. Hotel stay was good as I choose that hotel.

I am totally happy with Imm Ventures. Stunning arrangements and personal talk. Our tour was managed by dear Ambika and I am so impressed by her. Even on Sundays or late evenings she responded to my calls and queries with the same calmness. Thanks Ambika for being such a lovely helper. Except for the last stay at Manali( Hotel Kingston Place) where the hotel was pathetic and so bad. Other than that i have no complaints regarding the trip. The Driver Varun bhai was the best. So cool so fun and yet so much good at driving. He was always ready on the given time. Never said No to any places that we wished to visit. All the other hotels we well selected , routes well planned and designed. I am thankful for this trip to Imm Ventures for providing me my budget friendly trip with the best memories. Looking forward to travel with you guys again. Cheers and love to Ambika.

Hello Team, Here is our feedback for the spiti tour. Bad experience 1. Driver was not having any itinerary with him and was not agree with our itinerary which we had booked. It was your duty to inform him about the trip location properly. 2. Driver was NOT happy to wait the good places we thought we could capture in our camera. He was always in a hurry thats why most of the days he had finished till 3 pm and left for the day. Everyday we were hoping that driver's mood would be good then we could enjoy the nature wherever we want in our route, instead of just crossing the places. We did not complain about this during the trip as we wanted to reach back safely without making him angry. One day he had also scolded to my lady friend till frightening on asking to stop for one click of snowy mountain. We did not oppose due to the fear of left alone, any willingly accident on that high mountain and there was no network so no help 3. Tabo monastery was not covered (as per driver he had talked to you regarding distance covered per day hence cancelled) though it is mentioned in itinerary. Good experience 1. Even after hotel shuffling, the Hotels we were accommodated were good. 2. We were driven safely throughout the trip with ensured safety. Driver has good driving skill. Summery: It was amazing experience being in Spiti apart from cribbing driver. Travel Triangle--- Excellent Agent--- Tanish Tour was good except the driver. Note-- Spiti trip will be good if you have good driver not noly in driving also understanding and in behaviour
