How To Reach Colombo From Mumbai

Colombo receives numerous international flights everyday at the Bandaranaike International Airport which serves the city from 32 km away from the main part of the town. Almost all prominent Indian airports have regular flights to Colombo, and so does Mumbai. The Port of Colombo, although largely dedicated towards cargo, receives the luxury cruise liners from Mumbai on a fairly regular basis.

By Air: For a quick commute, catching the Mumbai to Colombo Sri Lankan Airlines’ flight is your best bet. The two daily Mumbai to Colombo flights offered by Jet Airways is not so bad either. The time duration takes 2 hours 25 minutes.

By Road/Rail: There is no road or rail connectivity between Mumbai and Colombo. Even if there is a sea-link bridge built between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, it would still be a much less probable option than flight.

By Sea: Taking advantage of the brilliant western coast of India, there are multiple cruisers which have sprung up in the last many years. There are liners which go directly for Mumbai to Colombo cruise over a couple of nights, or one can take the longer ones with detours to Mangalore, Kochi and Male, Maldives.  These cruises have all the opulence of luxury liners, and take you on the most idyllic tour of the Indian Ocean before dropping the anchor at Colombo.
