BR hills is an exuberant and exquisite tourist spot located on the south eastern edge of Karnataka. It is at analtitude of 5091 feet and serves as an interconnection between Eastern Ghats and Western Ghats. BR Hills is drained by Cauveryand Kapila rivers. \it has rich diversity of lush green landscapes and it has evrgreen, deciduous and even high altitude vegetation. Tourists can spot even rare plants and animals in this region. BR Hills support a wide variety of fauna. One can encounter variedtypes of animals roaming in this region. Tourists can view a wide variety of birds here. The place is inhabited by the Soliga tribe. They live in the interiors and are semi nomadic. There is a famous coffee estate in this region. Another tourist spot in the regionis Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple dedicated to Lord Ranganatha.

DODDA SAMPIGE MARA: This is a unique site which one must surely visit on a trip to BR hills. This is basically a thousand year old tree. The name literally means 'the Big Champak tree'. The distance between the temple and BR Hills is 4km. The tree reaches34 m in height and is 20m broad. The river Bhargavi which is a tributary of the Kaveri flows by the tree.

BRT WILD LIFE SANCTUARY: covers a sprawling area of 540 km and houses rich flora and fauna. The Sanctuary is situated atthe Southern end of Karnataka and is situated east to the Western Ghats. The vegetation consists of evergreen, deciduous, dryShola forests and grasslands. There are many endangered species residing in the area. Some of the animal species include spotted bear, dear, Langur, Indian Pangolin, Indian Gerbille.

BILIGIRI RANGASWAMY TEMPLE: This is an extremely famous and beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Ranganatha. The deity is shownin a standing position. The famous car festival is held every year and devotees flock in large numbers to this place.

Fishing is an extremely interesting activity at BR Hills. The Cauvery is the natural source of the Mahseer fish which is the largesttropical fish in the world. The calm deep waters of Cauvery pose an excellent opportunity for river rafting. A glide through the river flowing through forests is an extremely enticing experience. Many camps are organised from September to May. Tourists areaccompanied by rafting instructors for perfect rafting experience.
