How To Reach Manali

Manali is a major hill station and town popular for its natural vistas and Himalayas surrounding it. It also serves as a major destination for honeymooners, especially during the winter months. The high-altitude Himalayan resort town is a major center for backpackers too. With its close proximity to destinations like Rohtang Valley and Solang Valley, Manali becomes a major part. The town is therefore the gateway to a whole new world with adventure sports like paragliding, skiing and many others being offered in the valley.

Therefore, the town is very well-connected to the rest of India with roadways and flights too. However, roadways are the most important mode of transportation as the hilly terrains seem to be tough for railways.

So, here are the 3 ways to reach Manali, each eventually requiring roadways to travel:

By Air

The nearest airport to Manali is at Bhuntar. It  is situated approximately 50 kilometres away from Manali. It only caters to domestic flights from Delhi and Chandigarh. After reaching the airport, you can take a taxi or direct bus to Manali. Usually, tourists don’t prefer flights considering the harsh weather conditions and mountainous terrains.

By Rail

Railways is also not a very preferred route as few trains stop at Joginder Nagar Railway Station which is 50 km away from Manali. Although, cabs and local transportation are available from the station to Manali.

By Road

Manali is a very well-connected destination to other important tourist destinations including but not limited to Leh, Kullu, Shimla, New Delhi and Dharamshala. By means of private as well as state-run buses, the tourists flock in large numbers.

The distance between Delhi to Manali is about 550 kilometres and it is highly advisable to book your tickets in the Volvo coaches as they are really comfortable keeping in view the long distance journey.

Self-Drive

And then, there is the option to drive on your own. Self-drive is an amazing option to undertake considering you will be most independent and can travel at your own pace. Be careful about the mountainous roads and bent-curves.

Manali Holiday Family Packages are specially designed to suit the individual’s needs and guarantee an organized, hassle-free trip at affordable rates to meet the desires and expectations of the tourists. The packages provide with extensive Manali itinerary that showcases various locations to visit and day-to-day routine planned by the holidaymakers.

Shradha's 9 days trip to Manali

We really enjoyed the tour. The tour was well planned. Our Car pilot was very polite, experienced and guide us throughout the tour. He deserves a speical mention here. Speical shout for Hotel Holiday Heaven at Manali. If you are visiting Manali try to get Hotel Holiday Heaven, the food is very tasty (veg only) and location is the best (very near to mall road). Finally the tour was only possible because of Devanuj Goel, who always manage our tour to his level best. Avoid Sky heaven resort at Dharamshala. Snow at Solang Valley at Manali.

Overall, the trip was good. However driver assigned was not professional. At certain places there were rash drivings. Coming to the accommodation, the hotels were well chosen. Especially the one for manali and dalhousie were the best with mesmerising scenic views. However for the hotel in dharmashala, the room was not provided as agreed before the trip and we had to face a lot of issues. Overall, the trip was memorable. However, would suggest improvements in terms of assigning good drivers, since thats also an essential part of the trip. Accommodation for manali and dalhousie was too good. Solang valley visit was memorable.
