Things To Do In India

There are many things to do in India for all kinds and ages of travelers in all the seasons. No matter where one goes in the country, they’ll always find a variety of exciting activities to indulge in to make their trip memorable. Thanks to a diverse topography, the culture, and even the uniqueness of each state, travelers coming to India will always find themselves falling short of time to indulge in the plethora of experiences and fun things to do in India.

The varied landforms in India have opened the doors for all kinds of adventure as well as leisure activities for the adrenaline junkies on one side, and couples and families on the other. The hills, beaches, rivers, and lakes provide scope for a huge number of adventure activities in India for high-spirited youngsters and children who come here, mostly in the summer months.

The hills and mountainous areas are the best places to look for adventure in India. For trekking, one can go to parts of Himachal, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Kashmir, and other hill towns like Darjeeling, Ooty, and Mount Abu. Some of the most famous treks include the Roopkund Trek, Valley of Flowers Trek, Chadar (Frozen Lake) Trek, Bhrigu Lake Trek, Nag Tibba Trek, and Har Ki Dun Trek.

For paragliding, adrenaline junkies usually visit Bir Billing, and Manali while places like the Ganges in Rishikesh, Teesta river, and Zanskar river receive all white water rafting enthusiasts. Travelers go for skiing in destinations such as Auli, Pahalgam, Kufri, and Manali, while those who wish to indulge in a spot of mountaineering and mountain climbing, both beginner and expert levels, escape to the hills of Darjeeling, Nanda Devi, Parvati Valley in Kasol, and Ramnagar in Karnataka among others. Other fun activities in India for visitors of hilly areas include camping, river crossing, flying fox, zorbing, boating, bungee jumping, etc. Honeymooners and families can also go for a gondola ride in Gangtok and Darjeeling.

Adventurous things to do in India are not merely confined to those in the hills. The numerous water bodies in and around the country act as ideal spots for adventure and provide massive opportunities for watersports. Activities like parasailing, surfing, canoeing, kayaking, diving, and rafting figure prominently in the list of the top things to do in India for water lovers. One can try activities like water skiing, jet skiing, parasailing, boat rides, surfing, dinghy sailing, and swimming in coastal regions such as Goa, Kerala, and Pondicherry. Other than white water rafting, one can also try cliff jumping, and kayaking in Rishikesh.

While the hills and water bodies provide a zillion activities in India, one cannot forget the arid regions of the country when looking for fun experiences. For all those wondering what to do in India when in the western regions, places like Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra have some of the coolest answers. Both honeymooners and families can go for a camel safari and camping in Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Bikaner; indulge in a stimulating session of desert safari in the sands of Jaisalmer; witness or be part of various engaging folk traditions, lively dance and music sessions; go on a village expedition; and watch colourful puppet shows, which are some of the special things in India.

To be one with the unique heritage of Western India, visitors can also attend the colorful cultural festivals and fairs, and treat their taste buds to the most sumptuous and spicy Rajasthani cuisines that will have them coming back for more! For a truly authentic and royal feel of Rajasthan, one must spend an evening at Chokhi Dhani in Jaipur at least once.<readmore>

Other cool things to do in India include visiting the wildlife sanctuaries, and discovering the wild side of India. One can avail guided expeditions either through guided safaris on jeeps and bicycles, or via nature walks and treks at the many wildlife sanctuaries and national parks like Corbett National Park, Sariska Tiger Reserve, Kaziranga National Park, and Gir National Park. Wildlife spotting and safaris in the wildlife sanctuaries are some of the best things to see and do in India.

With all this and more, one can never run out of exciting things to do in India on their trip. Indulging in some of these experiences on your trip to India will completely change the way you define travel!

    • Trip to Mauritius

We travelled to Mauritius as 5 days trip for our Honeymoon. Aditya Grand Vacation was the travel agent who taken care and organized the whole trip. Tanvi- POC for our trip- who was totally reachable and helpful for our queries about quotation, stay, flights etc., We wanted to customize our package before 1 week of our travel (Wanted to visit Casela park instead of North tour). Though we had glitches in discussion initially, they arranged the trip without charging extra (Choosing private cab made this not much complicated). We never faced a single issue in the whole trip and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and felt like home and very safe. From flights, hotel (Azur Paradise), food in hotel (i'll give 6/5 star), Private Cab, Sight seeing everything was hassle free. Initially i thought, the hotel has a private beach but it is not. Slightly disappointed (it was my mistake for not ensuring it), but still i could reach the nearest beach by walk in 3 min at max. The driver was arranged for our whole sightseeing-Jeff, was a very nice and polite person (Former Kick Boxer) . We totally admire his way of approach. We felt very safe while travelling with him. Leena- the poc in Mauritius was much reachable and assisted us even for a small query during our stay. Deepanshu- TT coordinator: helped us on invoice related queries. In Mauritius: Food: If your package is Half Board, your breakfast and dinner includes in your package (most of the time, it is delicious). When you are putside, try local food. Don't look for Indian restaurant, atleast get clarity about the meal on what they are serving exactly. It costed us 1200 Mauritius rupee for two meals which is very average, probably costs 200 rupees at the maximum in india. If you are a non vegetarian, you can try different variety of sea food (alas!! we are vegetarian). On the other hand, we tried roti in local road side shop is totally mouth watering costed just 10 Mauritius rupee for a single roti. So please be cautious on how much you are paying for what you are eating. Shopping: Always look for local duty free shops, which are reasonable in price. Beware of local market/bazaar shop where they charge 250% for TOURTISTS. We purchased a tshirt for 300 Mauritius rupee with the help of Jeff which was sold for 650. Activities: You have plenty of adventure and water activities wherever you go. Plan your time and enjoy accordingly. Locations: Simply Heaven. Beaches, landscapes, people, even roads- Mauritius will never fail to amuse and excite you!! Verdict: The trip was quiet pleasant and memorable. We regret for choosing the trip only for 5 days. It was bit tight for us. Mauritius is heaven. You will feel like a home. People are polite. Landscape is something phenomenal. Perfect destination to spend your relax time. Have your memorable time!!!

    • Trip to Himachal

Hiii myself Eshak. I booked a trip with North India tours and Travel to shimla and manali from delhi through TT. So about this trip i would like to share with other travellers and agents abouts some good and bad experience about this trip. Here are some points below: 1. Firstly the Hotels they provided us were very beautiful also the service of the hotel Royal Regency in shimla is awesome, the staff there is alwz at ur help but the hotel in manali i.e. Hotel Himalayan Heights is is also good but there service is hopeless. Please never choose that hotel. The only good thing bout the hotel is that it is beautiful and nothin els. The provide avg quality brkfst n dinner. You wont get the basic needed things u would expect from a hotel from them 2. Thou the hotels are good but both the hotels are far from the main centre so if u enter the hotel early you have nothing to do other thn watchin tv....or whatevr u do in idle time 3. The itinerary is a baseless thing. It wont be the same as shown in the itinerary. I made a mistake i dint checked the itinerary while on the trip and the driver also dint told me much about the places included in the itinerary. When i got back home i checked it again i saw in it many places which i dint visited during the trip...like, zoo, jaku temple etc etc. 4. I had an issue with the payment but TT agent solved it thou late and after my repeated asking fr a couple f time. 5. The agent Neha from North India Tour and Travel is good and polite.

    • Trip to Kerala

My first visit to southern India and chauffeur at our disposal was horrible with no understanding of family needs. He will just have his way throughout trying to save parking fees, some kilometres, driving rash, abusing other commuters and so on. Travel agent was nice but not adhering to service standards and commitments. Trip could have been better if the chauffeur was slightly compassionate. Kerala is beautiful at every bit, corner. This is actually a traveller's heaven and dream destination. Best places are Munnar, Thekkady and Allepey. Cochin to be avoided.

    • Trip to Bali

It was really great experience to visit bali. It was first time i went out of country, i was bit frightened before taking the trip. But is has nothing to be frightened off in Bali. We met driver who was very nice guy "thank you Mr Mandela". He was with us the whole trip for any pickup and drop. i would recommend prebooked cab for your trip. He also suggest few places other than our planned itinerary where we went and they were really good. We lived in Legian Kuta recommended if you love club/night life. We also lived in Villa in Nusa dua it was also really good. For vegetarian Bali has really fewer options and for non-vegetarian there are more than u can think. We took USD from India and converted then to IDR best rate you will get if you want to save money. It is recommended to convert partly as you can get money exchange in bali very very easily. We also took ICICI international card which was also useful at many places specially at airport like we had connecting flight from Malaysia but we didn't has their currency, we used card there.

    • Trip to Singapore

My fourth trip with travel triangle and second international trip ... Inspite of having a good trip, need to put in few points that i have experienced with travel triangle and holiday episode... My requirements were clear from day one of the trip booking...as i was travelling with my parents, wife and a four year old son, i wanted this trip to be a smooth one...to make it very smooth i gave all the freedom to the agent to guide me regarding the trip and also book the flight tickets... It appears the holiday episode travel agency are highly immatured in terms of travel planning and coordinating... All the Singapore hotels check in is at 2pm,,,if you are reaching early its your headache.... I have been in contact with the agent and kept asking him to confirm our early check in...they could have booked our flight by noon on the previous day or the same day and would have guided us better.. Inspite of contacting the travel triangle agents they couldnt handle this and gave me the worst experience ever...the holiday episode guys have booked a room in Value hotel thompson at singapore with the hotel's review being very bad in trip advisor...i asked for a change of hotel and was accommodated at days wyndham singapore, that does not entertain early check in.. the agent kept arguing with me to get into value hotel thompson..if we needed early check in... Travel triangle agents couldnt do anything and were apologising for booking the flight tickets early because of which early check in couldnt be arranged...finally after paying 2,75,000 INR i had to pay rs.4000/- again for an early check for one room and no complimentary break fast was arranged and we didnt have an idea abt this.... The holiday episode guys have delayed and carried the confirmation vouchers till the nth moment giving us lot of stress... Singapore visa reached us just a day before travel inspite of paying them advance almost a month back...scheduled itinetary was not in place and had to keep asking them repeatedly for that...we received it on the day of travel... We were in the universal studios and didnt have entry tickets...had to ping them on whatsapp group, and then the tickets were sent... We reached Kuala Lumpur , Ibis style hotel and there we learn we need to pay 40 Malaysian ringetts for travel tax, that was not mentioned before...when i spike to the agent, he said we need to pay and that does not need to be told...40 ringetts is a small amount but still needs to be mentioned when travelling abroad ..something like hidden charges from the agent....after yelling at the agent that he was responsible for the entire accommodation, over an international call, the amount was later refunded after we reached india.. The trip would have been better without these hiccups...ibis style and days hotel by wyndham are all boutique hotels especially designed for tourists from abroad..food was ok... Water was not provided by the agent except in malaysia where 500ml of water was provided for a day per person...my earlier trips did so...i have no idea if that is done by other agencies.. Positives from the trip, we did enjoy n had a good family time Night safari, universal studios, jenting highlands

New Delhi (Delhi), India 227 The best ! Review of Pearly Gates Lanka Reviewed 2 days ago When I booked the tour through Pearly gates I was expecting good service, but ended up being totally overwhelmed by the experience I had with this company. I first contacted Nimni over phone and was happy at her prompt answers and friendly tone.I booked with her soley on the basis of what I could guage of her over conversations on phone.( Travel Triangle was the aggregator) She had promised me a good guide cum driver and a big van for the three of us (my husband, son and I ). Rikfy picked us up from my hotel first ( I was atteding an international conference) and then my family from the airport and the next seven days we spent in Paradise ! He was a careful driver, a wonderful guide and a true friend. Attentive at all times, smiling advising, he made our tour truly special. Behind all this was Nimni - calling us to find if everything was ok. They had booked good hotels, the travel by van was very comfortable but most important - the personal touch at every moment by Rikfy made everything special. On the last evening we ordered dinner at the restaurant in Hotel Ocean Colombo but when the food didnt come even after almost an hour we were very upset. We called Rikfy and though it was after 10.30 pm he came and took us to an Arabian restaurant. As some of us are diabetic this was a life saver !.I recommend Pearly gates to everybody if you want true service with a smile, and Nimni and Rikfy really make you feel at home in Sri Lanka !
