About Tulip Garden in Srinagar

In Srinagar, there lies a huge 30 hectares Tulip Garden, which is Asia’s biggest garden till date.

Located in the foothills of Zabarwan Range, this garden gives an overview of the famous Dal Lake too. It was opened in 2007 with a strong goal to boost tourism of Kashmir Valley. The layout of the garden is in terrace fashion consisting of seven terraces. Visitors will also find other different kinds of flowers like Hyacinth, ranunculus, daffodils and many more.

Attractions in Srinagar

Dal Lake – It is one of the most famous places visited by tourists in Srinagar. Situated close to the Pir Panjal mountains, the Dal Lake consists of plenty of houseboats that let tourists explore the beauty of the surroundings and its nearby attractions. This is one of the most beautiful lakes in India.

Mughal Gardens – Located close to the Tulip Garden, Mughal Gardens were built during the rule of the great emperor, Jahangir. The Mughal Gardens consist of Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh, Pari Mahal, and Chashma Bagh. These gardens are surrounded with bright flowers and big trees and the serene beauty of this place creates a pleasant environment.

Shankaracharya Temple – It is situated on Shankaracharya hill and dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is said to be built in 200 BC and the current structure of the temple is said to be built during the 9th Century AD.

Nishat Gardens - Nishat Gardens house plenty of Chinar and Cypress trees along with bright flowers and enticing fountains. Located at a distance of around 3 kilometers to Tulip Garden, these gardens are a must-visit attraction on a Srinagar tour.

Shalimar Bagh - Just like the Mughal Gardens, Shalimar Bagh was also constructed by the Mughal emperor, Jahangir. This garden is a compliment to the fantastic architecture of the Mughal era.

Tulip Gardens, officially known as Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden, is visited by many people around the world. Tourists can visit this place anytime in between last week of March to Mid April. That is the time for the Annual Tulip festival, an effort put by the government to promote the magnificence of Jammu and Kashmir.
