Samudra Beach is a hidden gem in the sleepy little town of Kovalam in Kerala that is an ideal place to visit for those looking to find a tropical paradise and peace of mind. This beach is known for scenic beauty and a smaller number of tourists but it also offers some wonderful experiences in terms of interacting with the local food and local culture. This is another beach where you can observe the locals going about their business in the mornings as the fishermen set sail to get the day’s catch. Perspective and an opportunity for contemplation while sitting on a rock formation at Samudra beach is a wholesome experience that everyone should have at least once. These same rock formations are also why this beach is a little cut off from the rest of Kovalam. Even then, getting to Samudra beach is not that difficult and this is in service of letting travellers know how.
Kovalam being a fairly small village, even the far-off beaches like Samudra beach are still easy to access. The nearest airport and railway station are both in Thiruvananthapuram. The bus is always available as a cheaper option for those coming from the city. As Samudra beach is a little away from the main area of Kovalam, that means it’s that much closer to Thiruvananthapuram with both the airport and railway station being roughly 10-11 kms away. Auto rickshaws and cabs are also available both from Thiruvananthapuram as well as the other beaches in Kovalam. Scooters on rent are always an option. The ambitious can try walking here but it’s not accessible from the other beaches, so it would mean that they have to walk the inland roads. Regardless of how one gets there, Samudra beach is sure to be a delightful experience once reached.
