History of Van Vihar 

The area covered under Van Vihar was once prey to many organizations for commercial purposes. However, this biodiversity spot was saved under the Wildlife Protection Act. As of now, the entire area is fenced for the protection of animals. Many efforts have been made in the past by the government to save and protect Van Vihar National Park in Bhopal.  

Flora and Fauna at Van Vihar

A natural habitat of orphaned animals brought from various parts of the country or exchanged from other zoos, Van Vihar National Park is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts. Offering a chance to witness rare species like Whiter Tiger, Chital, Black Buck, Sambhar, Nilgai, Porcupine, Wild-boar, etc. along with 60 species of butterfly, and 200 species of birds, this national park is reserved for the enhancement of the wildlife and biodiversity. Activities like poaching, hunting, forestry, and grazing on cultivation are not permitted in Van Vihar National Park in Bhopal. An important gateway to Bhopal, this wildlife sanctuary is also known as a Safari Park.
