About Tamarin in Mauritius
Tamarin is a village crowning the western coast of Mauritius and is a lovely little place to visit. Formerly, it used to be a fishermen’s village only. It is of late that Tamarin, Mauritius has turned into a residential area and a pretty holiday retreat.
The main attraction here is the waters of Tamarin Bay, Mauritius. The waves of this bay is said to be the best surfing waves on the planet. There are two renowned surfing locations on the Tamarin Beach, Mauritius – Dal towards the left and Black Stone towards the right of the beach. Another interesting addition to this beach is the pods of dolphins which play around very near to the shore during the early hours before going back into the sea. There are many agencies and boat services here that will take you on a trip to see the Tamarin Bay Mauritius dolphins, busy in their own dives, jumps and swims. There are cruise services where you can experience swimming with the dolphins as well. These cruises will take you to the hotspots where dolphins are found aplenty, and you can plunge into the water fully geared and have a once-in-a-lifetime experience of encountering and swimming with these friendly sea creatures.
Being located on the west coast, Tamarin offers some of the best sunsets as well. Another noticeable thing about the village is its supply of salt to the whole country. The coast of Tamarin is the salt pan of Mauritius and the pans can be seen along the coast from the main road. Although many of them have stopped functioning since salt is mostly imported one, some of them still exist and visiting them would be a journey down history – almost back to the French era.
