Vietnam Tour Package: Overview
This 6 nights 7 days Vietnam tour package from Mumbai includes your return flights, the domestic flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and your Vietnam e-visa fee, so the whole country from north to south is booked in one go. You fly non-stop into Hanoi, spend a day among the limestone peaks of Ninh Binh, sleep one night on a Ha Long Bay cruise and finish with three nights in Ho Chi Minh City for the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta. The trip suits couples, families and first-time visitors who want both ends of Vietnam in a week without ever doubling back. The price is Rs 69,900 per person on twin sharing, with 3-star hotels, the cruise cabin, private transfers and guided sightseeing bundled in.
Vietnam is a long, narrow country with the South China Sea along one side, and most short trips see only one end of it. Here the north gets three nights: Hanoi’s Old Quarter, the 10th-century temples of the Dinh and Le kings at Hoa Lu, a rowing-boat ride through the caves of Tam Coc, and a night among the karst islands of Ha Long Bay. The south gets three more: the Reunification Palace, the War Remnants Museum, the tunnels at Cu Chi and a sampan through the coconut canals of Thoi Son. Your Flights from Mumbai, Into Hanoi and Home from Ho Chi Minh City
Every flight on this trip is in the price, and the route is open-jaw. You land in Hanoi in the north and fly home from Ho Chi Minh City in the south, which saves the full day you would lose flying back up the country to catch a return. Mumbai got two new non-stops to Hanoi this season, so the outbound leg no longer needs a change in Bangkok or Singapore.
| Leg | Airline | When it flies | Flight time | In the price? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mumbai to Hanoi | IndiGo, non-stop | Daily from late Oct 2026, leaves around 4:15 am | About 4 h 15 min | Yes |
| Mumbai to Hanoi | Akasa Air, non-stop | 4 days a week since 4 Sep 2026 | About 5 h | Yes, if your dates match |
| Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City (Day 4) | Vietnam Airlines, VietJet or Bamboo | Many flights a day | About 2 h 10 min | Yes |
| Ho Chi Minh City to Mumbai (Day 7) | Non-stop on most dates | Confirmed in your quote | About 5 h | Yes |
Vietnam is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of India, so the early IndiGo departure lands you in Hanoi at about 10 am local time with most of Day 1 still ahead. Plan to reach Terminal 2 at Mumbai airport by about 1:15 am. Airfares, routes and every other Mumbai option are in our how to reach Vietnam from Mumbai guide.
Day-wise Itinerary: Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Ha Long Bay and Ho Chi Minh City
Day 1: Mumbai to Hanoi, Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter
Your non-stop flight from Mumbai lands at Noi Bai International Airport around 10 am. Meet your private driver at the airport, who will transfer you to the hotel, about 45 minutes away in the Old Quarter. Rooms are usually ready from 2 pm, so leave your bags at the desk, have lunch nearby and check in when the room is free.
Later, walk five minutes to Hoan Kiem Lake and cross the red The Huc Bridge to Ngoc Son Temple on its island. Then roam the streets of the Old Quarter, where each lane was once named after the trade it sold: silk on Hang Gai, tin on Hang Thiec, paper votives on Hang Ma. Your hotel on Hang Manh Street sits right in the middle of it, so dinner is a short walk away.
Meals: None (arrival day). Optional: Water puppet show near Hoan Kiem Lake, under an hour (charges extra)
Day 2: Ninh Binh Day Trip to Hoa Lu Temples, Tam Coc Boat Ride and Cycling
After breakfast, at 8:00 am the driver picks you up for Hoa Lu, about 100 km south of Hanoi and a drive of around 2 hours. Hoa Lu was Vietnam’s capital in the 10th and early 11th centuries, and today you visit the temples of the Dinh and Le dynasties, set at the foot of the limestone hills. Read our Hoa Lu guide for the history behind them.
After lunch you take a boat through Tam Coc. A local rower takes your small boat along the Ngo Dong River and through three caves cut into the karst, with rice fields on both banks. Then cycle for an hour along the quiet villages, rice fields, rivers and rocky outcrops of Tam Coc. Our Tam Coc guide shows the best time of year for the green and golden rice seasons. You are back in Hanoi by early evening.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch. Distance: Hanoi to Hoa Lu about 100 km, around 2 hours each way
Day 3: Hanoi to Ha Long Bay and Your Overnight Cruise
Check out after breakfast. Your driver takes you to the cruise pier, about 2 hours 30 minutes by expressway. The road crosses the flat rice country of the Red River Delta. On arrival, check in to your cabin on Huong Hai Junks and head up to the deck as the boat sails out between the limestone rocks and karst grottoes of a UNESCO World Heritage bay.
Lunch is served on board (a vegetarian menu is served if you asked at booking), after which you visit a limestone cave in Ha Long Bay, Sung Sot or Surprise Cave on most routes. Spend some time in the bay swimming and kayaking to get close to the floating villages and their shops. Return to the cruise in the evening for an early dinner. The rest of the time is at leisure on the sundeck. Overnight on the cruise.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Optional: Watersports (charges extra)
Day 4: Ha Long Bay to Hanoi Airport, Then Fly to Ho Chi Minh City
Wake up early for tai chi on the sundeck while the bay is still quiet, or just enjoy a slow breakfast with a view. The cruise sails back to the pier over brunch, and you disembark between 10:30 am and 11:30 am. The driver takes you straight to Noi Bai Airport, about 2 hours 30 minutes away, for your afternoon flight to Ho Chi Minh City, which takes about 2 hours 10 minutes.
You land at Tan Son Nhat Airport in the early evening, and the driver transfers you to Meraki Hotel on Bui Vien Street in District 1. If you have energy left, Ben Thanh night market is a ten-minute walk away and the best place in the city for a first plate of broken rice or a sugarcane juice. Slip into bed early, because tomorrow is a full day.
Meals: Breakfast and brunch on the cruise
Day 5: Ho Chi Minh City Tour and the Cu Chi Tunnels
The city tour starts after breakfast. Visit the Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace, where the Vietnam War ended in 1975. Next is Notre-Dame Cathedral, built of red bricks shipped from France and seen from outside while restoration continues, then the historic Central Post Office across the square and, lastly, the War Remnants Museum. Take a break for lunch at a local restaurant.
Leave for the Cu Chi Tunnels, about 1 hour 30 minutes north of the city. A guide gives a short briefing and a video first. Explore the tunnel area, which includes the specially built living areas with kitchens, bedrooms, storage, weapon factories, field hospitals and a command centre. The tunnels are low and narrow, so the guide picks a short, widened section for anyone who prefers. Afterwards you get hot tea and steamed cassava, the food the fighters lived on. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch. Optional: Firing range at Cu Chi (charges extra, paid per round)
Day 6: Mekong Delta Day Trip to My Tho, Unicorn Island and Tan Thach Village
Pickup is around 7 am, after breakfast, for the drive of about 2 hours to My Tho, a small town on the left bank of the Mekong River. Here, board the boat and sail past the four islands known as Dragon, Phoenix, Unicorn and Tortoise. Take a halt at Unicorn Island and walk down the country lanes past orchards and tropical fruit trees, while local musicians perform southern folk songs.
Then ride a hand-rowed sampan through the narrow coconut canals of Thoi Son. Visit the family businesses: a honeybee farm where you taste honey tea, and a coconut candy workshop. Lunch is at a riverside restaurant. Then cycle around Tan Thach village, on quiet lanes lined with coconut palms. Return to Ho Chi Minh City in the evening for your last night.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch. Distance: Ho Chi Minh City to My Tho about 70 km, around 2 hours each way
Day 7: Ho Chi Minh City to Mumbai
Check out by noon after breakfast. The hotel holds your bags. With a free morning, walk to Ben Thanh Market for Vietnamese coffee beans and a phin filter, cashews, silk scarves or lacquerware, and bargain gently, because first prices start high. The market opens around 7 am.
At the time set for your flight, the driver transfers you to Tan Son Nhat Airport, about 30 minutes from District 1 outside rush hour. The flight home to Mumbai takes about 5 hours, and you gain back the 1 hour 30 minutes you lost on the way out.
Meals: Breakfast
Hotels and Your Ha Long Bay Cruise
Note: Our agents will provide you these or similar hotels depending on availability.
| Nights | Place | Stay |
|---|---|---|
| Nights 1 and 2 | Hanoi | Holiday Emerald Hotel, 24 Hang Manh Street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi (3-star, or similar) |
| Night 3 | Ha Long Bay | Huong Hai Junks, Quang Ninh, Ha Long Bay (private cabin with attached bathroom, or similar) |
| Nights 4, 5 and 6 | Ho Chi Minh City | Meraki Hotel, 198 Bui Vien Street, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1 (3-star, or similar) |
Both city hotels sit inside the old centres, so the evenings need no taxi. Hang Manh Street is five minutes on foot from Hoan Kiem Lake, and Bui Vien is a ten-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market. Bui Vien turns loud after 9 pm, so ask for a room away from the street if you sleep light. Want 4-star hotels or a 4-star cruise with a balcony cabin? Vietnam Trip Cost from Mumbai: What Rs 69,900 Covers
A 7-day Vietnam trip from Mumbai on this package costs about Rs 79,000 to Rs 83,500 per person in total, or about Rs 1,58,000 to Rs 1,67,000 for a couple. The Rs 69,900 package price covers the costly, fixed parts: three flights, the visa, six nights of stay, the cruise and every transfer. That works out to about Rs 10,000 per person per day. What remains is the dinners you pick yourself, insurance and shopping.
| Cost item | In the Rs 69,900? | Typical extra per person |
|---|---|---|
| Return flights Mumbai to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Mumbai | Yes | Fare difference only on peak dates |
| Domestic flight Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City | Yes | None |

Land-only prices you see elsewhere often look cheaper because they leave out the flights and visa. Already holding tickets? Ask for the land-only price in your quote.
Before You Fly from Mumbai: e-Visa, Money and Food
Indian passport holders need an e-visa for Vietnam, issued online through the official portal, evisa.gov.vn. A single-entry e-visa costs US$25, can be valid for up to 90 days and takes about 3 to 5 working days. The fee is in your package price. Share a passport scan and a photo when you book and the agent files it. Your passport must be valid for 6 months from arrival. Step-by-step help is in our Vietnam visa for Indians guide.
Vietnam uses the dong, and rupees are not accepted. Carry US dollars or a forex card from Mumbai and change cash at the gold shops and banks in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, where rates beat the airport. Cards work in hotels, malls and larger restaurants, but street food, taxis and markets need cash.
Vegetarian and Jain travellers eat well on this trip if they say so at booking. The agent sends the request to the cruise kitchen at least two days ahead, and you get a separate menu at every meal on board. In Hanoi, a few Indian restaurants sit within walking distance of Hoan Kiem Lake, and Bui Vien in Ho Chi Minh City has several more around your hotel. Look for the word chay (vegetarian) on Vietnamese menus, and read our guide to Vietnamese street food for what to try.
Best Time to Take This Trip from Mumbai
Vietnam can be visited all through the year, but this route covers two climates. To enjoy cool and dry winters in the north and dry days in the south, November to April is the best time. Pack a light jacket for the cruise deck at night between December and February.
| Mumbai holiday window | Hanoi and Ha Long Bay | Ho Chi Minh City | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Diwali to mid-December | Dry, 20°C to 27°C | Rains ending, warm | Good value before the Christmas surge |
| Christmas and New Year | Cool, 15°C to 20°C | Dry, 25°C to 32°C | Highest fares, cruises full. Book 8 weeks ahead |
| Republic Day long weekend | Cool, 14°C to 20°C, some mist | Dry and sunny | Tet falls on 6 Feb 2027; prices rise and shops close that week |
| Holi to April | Mild, 20°C to 28°C | Hot and dry, up to 35°C | Clear skies across the country |
| Summer vacation (May to June) | Hot and humid, 30°C to 35°C | Afternoon showers begin | Cruises sail normally; good for kayaking |
| July to September | Hot, heavy showers | Wet season | Typhoon warnings can stop Ha Long cruises from sailing |
For month-by-month weather across the country, see our best time to visit Vietnam guide.
Who This Trip Suits
Couples get the night on Ha Long Bay, the sunset from the sundeck and two evenings in old quarters built for walking. Ask for a double bed and a cruise cabin upgrade, or compare our Vietnam honeymoon packages for routes with beach time. Families get private transfers, no overnight trains or buses, and a longest drive of about 2 hours 30 minutes. Children love the Tam Coc boats and the Cu Chi tunnels, and triple rooms are available. See our Vietnam family packages for slower routes. First-time visitors get both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in one week, which most 5-day trips cannot fit.
It is less suited to travellers who want beaches or a slow pace. There is no beach stop on this route, and Days 2, 4, 5 and 6 start early.
Make It Longer: Add-ons and Similar Vietnam Trips from Mumbai
The simplest extension is 2 nights in Da Nang and Hoi An between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, flying one-way so you still never backtrack. Hoi An adds a lantern-lit old town and tailors who stitch a suit in a day. Two nights on Phu Quoc after Ho Chi Minh City add the beach time this route leaves out, so see our Phu Quoc tour packages. Prefer mountains? Swap the Ninh Binh day for an overnight in Sapa. Want Angkor Wat too? The Vietnam and Cambodia tour from Mumbai adds Siem Reap.
