    Vietnam Package Tour (7D/6N): Overview

This 6 nights 7 days Vietnam package tour follows the classic first-timer route from north to south in one week, with no backtracking. You spend two nights in Hanoi with a full day among the limestone peaks of Ninh Binh, one night on an overnight Ha Long Bay cruise, and three nights in Ho Chi Minh City for the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta. It suits couples, families and anyone seeing Vietnam for the first time who wants both ends of the country without rushing either. The land package starts at Rs 45,000 per person on twin sharing, with 3-star hotels, the cruise cabin, private transfers and an English-speaking guide, and you add flights from your own city.

The route runs one way. You land in Hanoi, fly south on Day 4 in about 2 hours 10 minutes, and go home from Ho Chi Minh City, so no day is lost retracing your steps. Ninh Binh is the part most 7-day packages leave out. Here you see the 10th-century temples of the Dinh and Le kings at Hoa Lu and row through caves cut into the karst, the scenery Vietnam calls Ha Long Bay on land. For a shorter trip, flights included or a different region, compare all our Vietnam tour packages.

Rs 45,000 per person on twin sharing (was Rs 48,913) for the land package. TravelTriangle has served 3,354+ travellers for Vietnam. Every day of this itinerary can be changed, and you compare quotes from up to 3 verified agents before paying anything.

Prices, inclusions and drive times on this page are checked by our Vietnam desk against the supplier contract for package 43172, and the visa details against Vietnam’s official e-visa rules for 2026. Last checked 29 October 2026.

Day-by-Day Vietnam Itinerary for 7 Days and 6 Nights

Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi, Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter

Your guide meets you in the arrivals hall at Noi Bai International Airport, and the private drive into Hanoi takes about 45 minutes across the cable-stayed Nhat Tan Bridge. Check in at Hanoi 3B Premier Hotel, on the northern edge of the Old Quarter, from 2 pm. If your overnight flight lands before 6 am, ask for early check-in in your quote, because it is not part of the price.

Late afternoon is the right hour for a first walk. Hoan Kiem Lake is a 20-minute stroll south of the hotel. Cross the red The Huc Bridge to Ngoc Son Temple on its little island, then drift back through the Old Quarter, where streets still carry the name of the trade once sold on them. Hang Gai was silk, Hang Ma was paper goods, and both still sell close to it. If your flight lands early, ask the guide to fit in the Temple of Literature and the One Pillar Pagoda before dark. No meals are included on arrival day, and dinner is a short walk from the hotel.

Day 2: Ninh Binh Day Trip to Hoa Lu, Tam Coc Boat Ride and Cycling

After breakfast the driver heads south for Hoa Lu, about 100 km away and a drive of roughly 2 hours past rice fields and the first limestone towers. Hoa Lu was Vietnam’s capital from 968 until 1010, and the two temples here honour King Dinh Tien Hoang and King Le Dai Hanh, set right against the cliffs. Our Hoa Lu guide tells the story behind them.

Lunch is at a local restaurant, then the best part of the day. A rower takes your small boat along the Ngo Dong River at Tam Coc and through three caves cut into the karst, about 2 hours there and back, and many rowers steer the oars with their feet. On busy days the guide may switch to the boat route at Trang An, a UNESCO site a few minutes away. An hour of easy cycling through the villages follows, before the drive back to Hanoi in the early evening. Breakfast and lunch are included. Read more on Ninh Binh.

Day 3: Hanoi to Ha Long Bay and Your Overnight Cruise

Check out after breakfast. The expressway to Tuan Chau Marina takes about 2 hours 30 minutes, crossing the flat farmland of the Red River Delta. Your cruise boards around noon, and you are on deck as the boat slides out among the limestone islands of a bay UNESCO has listed since 1994.

Lunch is served on board while the boat sails. In the afternoon you visit a cave, Sung Sot or Surprise Cave on most routes, and then paddle a kayak close to the rock walls and floating fishing huts (the exact stops depend on the route the bay authority assigns your boat). Back on board, most cruises run a spring-roll class before dinner. After that the evening is yours on the sundeck. A vegetarian menu is served at every meal if you asked at booking. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included, and you sleep on the cruise.

Day 4: Ha Long Bay to Hanoi Airport, Then Fly to Ho Chi Minh City

Wake early for a tai chi lesson on the sundeck while the bay is still quiet, or take breakfast slowly with the karsts in view. The boat cruises back over brunch, and you disembark between 10:30 and 11:30 am. The driver goes straight to Noi Bai Airport, about 2 hours 30 minutes away, for your afternoon flight south, which takes about 2 hours 10 minutes. This domestic flight is not in the land price, and the agent can add it to your quote.

You land at Tan Son Nhat Airport in the early evening. A 30-minute transfer brings you to Bloom Saigon Hotel on Truong Dinh Street in District 1, five minutes on foot from Ben Thanh Market. If you have energy left, the stalls around the market are the easiest first dinner in the city. Breakfast and brunch on the cruise are included.

Day 5: Ho Chi Minh City Tour and the Cu Chi Tunnels

The morning is the city. Start at the Independence Palace, where North Vietnamese tanks rolled through the gates on 30 April 1975 and the war ended. Walk on to the Central Post Office, still a working post office under its French-era iron roof, with Notre-Dame Cathedral across the square, seen from outside while restoration continues. The War Remnants Museum is a 10-minute drive away, and the guide can fit it in if you skip the firing range later. Lunch is at a local restaurant.

Then drive about 1 hour 30 minutes north-west to the Cu Chi Tunnels. After a short briefing, you see the trapdoors, kitchens with smoke vents, sleeping rooms and field hospitals the fighters dug by hand, and crawl a stretch that has been widened for visitors. Anyone who prefers can stay above ground, because the crawl is optional. Steamed cassava and tea are served at the end, the food the fighters lived on. The firing range is extra and paid per round. Breakfast and lunch are included.

Day 6: Mekong Delta Day Trip to My Tho and Unicorn Island

Pickup is around 7:30 am for the drive of about 2 hours to My Tho, a river town on the Mekong. A boat takes you past the four islets named Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix and Tortoise, and stops at Unicorn Island, where you walk through fruit orchards and listen to a family band play southern folk music.

Next comes a hand-rowed sampan through the narrow coconut canals, with palm fronds almost meeting overhead. You stop at a bee farm for honey tea with kumquat and at a workshop where coconut candy is cut and wrapped by hand. Lunch is at a riverside restaurant, where elephant-ear fish is the house dish and a vegetarian plate is ready if you asked ahead. You are back in Ho Chi Minh City by evening for your last night. Breakfast and lunch are included.

Day 7: Ben Thanh Market and Fly Home

Breakfast, then check out by noon and leave your bags at the hotel desk. Ben Thanh Market is five minutes away and opens around 7 am, so the morning is free for Vietnamese coffee beans and a phin filter, cashews, silk scarves or lacquerware. First prices run high, so bargain with a smile.

The driver collects you in time for your flight and reaches Tan Son Nhat Airport in 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Air India flies non-stop to Delhi every day, Vietnam Airlines (three days a week) and VietJet (four) to Mumbai, and VietJet to Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. From other cities you connect through Hanoi, Bangkok or Singapore. Breakfast is included.

A 7-day trip on this itinerary costs about Rs 85,000 to Rs 1,07,000 per person in total once flights, the visa and tax are added. The Rs 45,000 package price pays for the parts that are hardest to arrange from India: six nights of stay, the cruise, every transfer, the guide and the entry tickets. Is 7 Days Enough for Vietnam? Why This Route Works

Seven days covers two of Vietnam’s three regions well, and that is what this itinerary does. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are about 1,700 km apart by road, so trying to see the north, the centre and the south in a week means a flight every other day. Picking north and south and joining them with one flight gives you Hanoi’s old streets, a night on Ha Long Bay, and the war history and river life of the south, with only one early start for travel.

Flights from India and the Vietnam e-Visa

Book an open-jaw ticket, into Hanoi and home from Ho Chi Minh City, so your flights match the route. Six Indian cities have a non-stop on at least one leg, and Vietnam is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of India.

Indian passport holders need an e-visa, applied for on Vietnam’s official portal, evisa.gov.vn. A single-entry e-visa costs US$25 and a multiple-entry one US$50 under fees in force since 1 April 2026, both valid for up to 90 days, and processing takes 3 to 5 working days. Your passport must be valid for 6 months from arrival. The agent can file it for you with a passport scan and a photo. Step-by-step help is in our Vietnam visa for Indians guide, and every route from India is in how to reach Vietnam.

Best Time to Take This Trip

November to April is the best window, because both ends of the route are dry at the same time. Hanoi is cool from December to February, and the south is hot and dry from January to April.

Vegetarian Food and Who This Trip Suits

Vegetarian and Jain travellers eat well on this route if they say so at booking. The cruise kitchen needs about two days’ notice to prepare a separate menu, and the Ninh Binh and Mekong lunches have a vegetarian plate on request. Hanoi’s Old Quarter and District 1 both have Indian restaurants within walking distance of your hotels. Look for the word chay on Vietnamese menus.

Couples get the night on Ha Long Bay and two walkable old quarters, and our Vietnam honeymoon packages add beach time. Families get private transfers, no overnight buses or trains, and children love the Tam Coc boats and the Cu Chi tunnels. Triple rooms are available, and our Vietnam family packages run at a slower pace. This trip is less suited to travellers who want a beach, since there is none on the route, or to anyone who finds early starts hard, because Days 2, 3, 5 and 6 begin by 8 am.

    How Booking and Payment Work

You pay a booking amount to confirm the trip and the rest in easy installments, as agreed with your travel agent. Before you pay anything, you see quotes from up to 3 verified agents and choose the one that suits you. If a storm warning stops your cruise from sailing, it moves to another day.

Review for TRIPPRO: Vietnam Family Trip in May I recently booked a family trip to Vietnam through TRIPPRO, and it was an incredible experience. TRIPPRO's customer service was outstanding, from the initial inquiry to the end of our journey. They tailored the itinerary to our preferences, ensuring a
well-planned and hassle-free trip. The accommodations recommended by TRIPPRO were excellent. We stayed in family-friendly 4 star hotels that were comfortable, clean, and conveniently located. The staff at each hotel was welcoming, and the rooms were spacious enough for our family of three. TRIPPRO organized a variety of activities and excursions that were the highlights of our trip. We explored the vibrant streets of Hanoi, enjoyed the breathtaking landscapes of Halong Bay, and immersed ourselves in the history of Hoi An, Mesmerizing Phu Quoc island. They also arranged family-friendly activities like a bicycle tour and a visit to a local village. Transportation arrangements were seamless, and the local guides provided valuable insights throughout our journey. TRIPPRO's attention to safety was commendable, ensuring all destinations complied with safety standards. Overall, I highly recommend TRIPPRO for a family trip to Vietnam. Their exceptional customer service, meticulous planning, and dedication to creating memorable experiences made our trip truly special. We look forward to future adventures with TRIPPRO.

1.Travel agent should explain/include every detail of the sightseeing. For example - one of my sightseeing includes swimming, but my travel agent did not told us about the swimming. So, we did not come prepared for the swimming. 2. Travel agent should have told that some of these sightseeing are no
t worth it. Or it is only popular tourist attraction and the scenic view is average only. For example they have to tailored the itenary as per the taste of customer. Or should have send real photos/videos of the places. 3. Some of the travel agents did not reach out to us after giving their first offer/quotation. Atleast they have to message or call once a day to know the customer expectations. I know there were times when there is too much rush, but these small steps gave customer a satisfaction. And they did not feel leftout. Smooth travel experience with nice and tasty food. Hotels and hostel choices are also good.

Dear Travel Triangle, We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful travel experience we had through your platform. The trip was beautifully planned, and everything came together seamlessly, making it a memorable journey for us. A special thanks to Sophie, our local travel agent, wh
o did an outstanding job creating the itinerary and arranging the travel plans. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and understanding of our preferences made all the difference. The tours, accommodations, and activities were thoughtfully organized, and we truly felt well taken care of throughout the trip. That being said, we did face some disappointment regarding the final payment process. The clarification about the remaining balance was not addressed until the end of the trip, with repeated remainders, which caused some confusion and stress. The required travel vouchers were never posted in the portal until the end. But thanks to Sophie, who came to our rescue. It would have been much more convenient if all these issues had been resolved earlier in the process. Overall, we are grateful for the experience and Sophie's excellent service. We hope this feedback helps in fine-tuning the payment communication for future trips. We look forward to using your services again for our next adventure! Best regards, Vinith Shetty

We booked six nights and five days to vietnam and cambodia holiday. Must say the travel agent was available 24/7 in wattsap and was helpful through out the trip.cab drivers were on time, hotels were too good ,walkable distance to shopping markets. The biggest minus was two days got wasted in airpor
t ,travel agent should have booked interconnecting flights either at late night or early morning. Secondly we felt the amount they charged for the entire trip was too high and it wasn't worth it .I WOULD SUGGEST ITS BETTER PLANNED BY SELF THAN BY AN AGENT

We chose Bamboo Hat Travels for our trip to Vietnam. I was really sceptical at the beginning about planning my trip with travel from Vietnam and I am not sure of the credibility. But, I took the risk and it was really worth it. Our trip was very well planned - hotels, transfers, group tours and sugg
estions. Everyone was punctual and a big thanks to Sophie who helped me at every stage with the visa, tickets and others. She was also the first in clearing any doubts even before I could ask. Vietnam is a very beautiful country with amazing people and places to visit and I suggest everyone go ahead with their tour.

I have a little bit problem with vegan meal. I know its about the country and we will not find Indian food there but i was hoping we had more options in vegan meals. This was only at one place, otherwise the food was amazing and the experience was good too. Bana hills was the best place

A big thank you to Sophie for making our Vietnam trip so much beautiful. We really love Bamboo Hat Tours iternary & their compact package. The hotels & the cruise they have provided are rally very nice. Everything was smooth for us just because of Sophie. She handled every query very frequently and
guided us in a right path. She is available in WhatsApp chat 24*7. Bamboo Hat Travels delivered us the service more than what I was expected. Their time management and on time pick up and dropping is just fantastic. Their quotation is quite cheap than other travel agents.
