Activities In Punjab

The North Indian state of Punjab is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India known for its vast geographical diversity, plethora of places to to explore, rich cultural and historical heritage, religious shrines, culinary delights, and a number of things to do in Punjab. Home to a total of 237 towns, the expansive state of Punjab offers a range of activities to provide an exhilarating vacation experience to the tourists. Here’s a list of some of the most popular things to do in Punjab for an utterly exciting trip.

A visit to the Wagah Border in Amritsar is one of the top 10 things to do in Punjab. Located quite close to the city of Amritsar, Wagah Border is the boundary demarcation between India and Pakistan which is famous for its, ‘Lowering of the flags’, ceremony which is held every evening. The soldiers marching with full enthusiasm, and spectators shouting slogans in their support, is a sight to relish. While in Amritsar, a tour of the Central Museum is also one of the best things to do in Punjab. This museum displays the monstrous history of Sikhs’ martyrdom  during the cruel Mughal, and British rule, and also by the government during Operation Bluestar. It also displays the paintings of illustrious Sikh personalities like the Gurus, Saints, leaders, rulers, and warriors along with a collection of coins, arms, and ancient manuscripts.

There are numerous amusement and water parks in different cities of Punjab like Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Bhatinda, and Khanna. These Punjab special recreation sites offer loads of fun-filled activities and rides which are perfect rejuvenating spots for families, couples and friends. Some of the most popular amusement parks in Punjab are Hardy's World Amusement Park (Ludhiana), Thunder Zone (Swara), Wonderland (Jalandhar), Chill-O-Thrill Water Park (Bathinda), and Sun City (Amritsar).

F2 Raceway in Jalandhar is another adventure park where travelers can go for different thrilling activities for all age groups from kids to elders. This adventure hub offers different sorts of activities like  go kart, paintball, flying dragon, break dance, disco coaster, zipline, mechanical bull, jeep, caterpillar, sun & moon, and various carnival games as well.

While exploring the capital city of Chandigarh, travelers can indulge in the activity of boating at the serene Sukhna Lake, Surrounded by a green blanket of trees and vegetation, Sukhna Lake is one of the best spots for nature lovers, where they can indulge in the serenity of nature, and admire its beauty.

Apart from all these activities, shopping is one of the major Punjab points of interest. From shopping malls to street markets, the number of places for shopping in Punjab make sure that tourists never run out of options. The rich culture of the city reflects through its unique clothing style, and delicious cuisine. Therefore, the popular products to buy during a trip to Punjab pertain to its culture. From the famous phulkari to the spicy Amritsari papad, and pickles, there is no dearth of things to buy in Punjab. Some of the most popular things to buy in Punjab are Salwar suits, Patiala Salwar, Embroidered Suits, Punjabi jutis, imitation jewellery, rugs, parandis, shawls, and other woolen products.

    • Trip to Himachal

Hotel in Dharamshala (Sai Taj Grand) was excellent with very polite staff. But the hotel in Dalhousie (Satyadev Grand) was horrible. The entrance and ambience was so poor that you wouldn't like to stay in the hotel. The staff was rude too and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. The cabs AC wasn't working and hence it was too hot in Haryana and Punjab when we were traveling from Delhi towards Dharamshala. The agent (Guruji Travels) refused to accept its AC is ill functioning. The driver (Vikas Kumar) was a very polite guy. One of the best drivers that I have ever travelled with. He needs all the desired appraisals from his company. Guruji Travels needs to be o be more customer centric as they are in service industry. Should give a heed to customers complaints and should check the hotels that they are giving to their customers. Himanshu from Travel Triangle was very helpful in listening to our complaints.

hotels and their location was not good they were far away from main points so we can't go outside even for a walk after 6.our 3rd hotel Turkish cottage was changed suddenly when we arrive as per the hotel we dont have any booking here and we were asked to go to another hotel 10kms away. when we enquired the same to travel vichar agent they said we have booked another hotel for you and they don't care to even informed us luckily our driver had not gone far away he came back quickly and then we moved. so the new hotel was hotel snow retreat as per our plan it should be of 3star but it was hardly 2star rated hotel, washroom was not clean, room service was not available as the phone line was disconnected so i need to call them via mobile. after this hotel i felt cheated as it was a rs 500 per night hotel and we were too tired to call the agent for a change. Rs 1600 was charged as Himachal gvt has increased some kind of road tax on outside vehicles so i need to pay them separately. when my full package is for Himachal the car should be of himachal so that i could have saved some money atleast but we got a Punjab vehicle and i have paid the money to driver. only good thing was a good driver with a new car and the scenery of himachal, we got snowfall at various locations and we enjoyed different activities.

Hotel Services was poor. I booked hotel with Heating. But when i checked in i was forced to but heater at extra cost. The same was included in our quote. Other than this hotel was good with beautiful view. Food was good. We had booked two innova cars. One driver was very rude and he started arguing with everything us. I payed extra for night depature from Manali. However cab driver stopped the car midway at punjab and he started sleeping there. We slept for about 4 hours in car irself. Then he dropped at hotel the final and he went off. He even took the other driver who was good along with him. My final drop was at airport as per the quote. I need to thank the travel agent here who arranged the alternate cab in short span of time and he dropped us at airport. Travel agent Mr Pawan was very good. He was so kind and generous that he always supported wherever we were stuck. And finally he arranged an alternate cab for dropping us at airport.

A nice holiday to Manali... Transportation from Delhi was a little hectic... not a big problem though... The third day sightseeing was a disappointment... On reviewing now, it feels that we could have a better itinery if we had done some pre research online.. Travel agent services were good.. Hotel Snow country was fine..Cab driver was a nice Punjabi man.. went to his house in Punjab and had a cup of tea on our return to Delhi... Gulaba was the finest part of the trip.. Looking for more trips with travel triangle...

Urvashi at North India tour and travel was a persuasive girl who literally compelled me to book my trip. The taxi with driver Sajjan Singh were the best companion of the trip. The Hotel Sunpark Resorts Chandigarh was no where near Chandigarh, rather at a bypass location of Punjab side and the staff their gave us a pathetic room which was no where near to the pictures posted on website. I got a feeling that the staff at Chandigarh probably thought the people booking rooms through travel agent have got the rooms for free. The saving face at Chandigarh was its Buffet. As far as the Manali stay at Hotel Snow Country is concerned, it was an all round Good experience. But Hotel Shimla Greens at Shimla although being a good new hotel was at such a distant place that we wasted our first day of arrival simply because we couldn't afford to travel for local sightseeing considering the steepness and far off distance of the hotel from any place worth a visit. Food / Buffet gave a clear indication of the people concerned at Shimla Greens to be miser who didnt even provide soup which we purchased from our own at a chilly night apart from ordering Non- Veg. People at North India Tour and travel probably book these hotels like one at Chandigarh and Shimla only to garner maximum margins which is pathetic to say the least. On the whole my ratings and response would be Neutral at best and would compare other options before making any booking the next time.
