From some of the best places to visit to some of the most exciting things to do, and from an established transport system to brilliant weather conditions, Punjab never fails to excite the tourists with its bag full of attractions.
Situated in the tropical region, the climate of Punjab experiences three major seasons, summer, monsoon, and winter. Summer are marked by extremely high temperatures while the winters are also quite harsh. Lying close to the hills, various regions of the state also witness heavy rainfall during monsoon in Punjab which renders this land extremely fertile, and fit for agricultural purposes. Transitional seasons of spring and autumn are also witnessed in Punjab.
The close proximity of Punjab to foothills of Himalayas also amounts to changes in weather conditions within the state. Areas that lie close to the hills experience colder winters and high rainfall as compared to the areas that are far from the foothills which gets lesser amount of rainfall and higher temperatures. Here’s a seasonal breakup of Punjab weather and the best time to visit:
Climate in Punjab
Summer Season in Punjab
Marked by extremely high temperatures, the summers of Punjab are extremely hot. Summers commence from April and stretch till the end of June. The maximum temperature is witnessed during the months of May and June. During this time, weather in Punjab Moga, and weather in Jalandhar Punjab is extremely hot. Temperatures range between 40 and 45 degree celsius throughout May and June.
These high temperatures are because the sun rays fall directly over the northern parts, making this season quite unbearable.Hot summer winds, Loo, is quite prominent across the state during this period. People traveling to Punjab during summer are advised to stay hydrated all the time to avoid any chances of heat stroke.
Monsoon Season in Punjab
The close proximity of Punjab to the hills, brings heavy rainfall to the state. Monsoon season in Punjab runs from early July to late September. During this period, a heavy downpour is experienced in most parts of Punjab due to the strong monsoon currents originating from the Bay of Bengal. This period is the best time for farmers as their fields get water after the hot and dry summers but for a traveler, it is not the best time to visit the city. This is due to the humidity in the environment. Still, this season is a good time to visit Punjab for nature lovers who can cherish the greenery which becomes even more prominent after the heavy showers.
Winter Season in Punjab
Marked by low temperatures, and chilly nights, winters are the best season to visit Punjab. The winter season in Punjab starts from November and runs till February. December and January are the coldest months of the year when temperatures even drop to 0 degree celsius. Weather in Jalandhar Punjab, weather in Sangrur Punjab, and also in other places is extremely pleasant to explore the attractions of the state. Nights become quite chilly, therefore, travelers are advised to pack woolen clothes with them.

Trip to HimachalHotel Services was poor. I booked hotel with Heating. But when i checked in i was forced to but heater at extra cost. The same was included in our quote. Other than this hotel was good with beautiful view. Food was good. We had booked two innova cars. One driver was very rude and he started arguing with everything us. I payed extra for night depature from Manali. However cab driver stopped the car midway at punjab and he started sleeping there. We slept for about 4 hours in car irself. Then he dropped at hotel the final and he went off. He even took the other driver who was good along with him. My final drop was at airport as per the quote. I need to thank the travel agent here who arranged the alternate cab in short span of time and he dropped us at airport. Travel agent Mr Pawan was very good. He was so kind and generous that he always supported wherever we were stuck. And finally he arranged an alternate cab for dropping us at airport.

On reviewing now, it feels that we could have a better itinery if we had done some pre research online.. Travel agent services were good.. Hotel Snow country was fine..Cab driver was a nice Punjabi man.. went to his house in Punjab and had a cup of tea on our return to Delhi... Gulaba was the finest part of the trip..
