About Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer
Ana Sagar Lake is the largest artificial lake in Ajmer, Rajasthan. During summer the lake dries up almost every year. The best time to enjoy stunning and breathtaking views of the Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer is in monsoon as due to rains the lake is filled with water. The lake was built to overcome the water shortage in the area. One can even plan a visit from October to March, as the weather is pleasant and the lake is also full. The lake is also famous for splendid sunset, many travelers and locals gather here in the evening with their family and friends to witness the mesmerizing sunset. The lake is located almost in the heart of the city and is just two kilometers from the Ajmer railway station.
History of Ana Sagar Lake
The beautiful lake was established by the emperor Anaji Chauhan of Ajmer in the year 1135 and 1150 AD. The lake was built to uplift the civilization, a dam was constructed across the Luni River and from the river water was sourced to the Ana Sagar Lake. The aim for the construction of this lake was to curb the problem of shortage of water and to ensure the betterment of civilization. The gardens surrounding the lake are called Daulat Bagh Gardens and were established by the Mughal emperor Jahangir. These gardens are known for peaceful ambiance and greenery. In order to maintain the beauty of the lake, the Government of Ajmer has forbidden to construct anymore catchment near the Ana Sagar Lake.

The lake was constructed in the year 1135 and 1150 AD, under the reign of Anaji Chauhan for the betterment of the society. The catchment area surrounding the lake was constructed with the help and support of the community.
