Also called Mount Pedro, Pidurutalagala is the tallest peak of Sri Lanka. The Pidurutalagala height is 2,524 m. It is easily distinguishable from almost all the areas in Central Province. The Government of Sri Lanka and armed forces have built their communications array on the top of the peak. The communications array contributes to the functioning of Sri Lanka’s radar system. It is mandatory for foreign travelers to present their passport at the base of Pidurutalagala because it is a military base. There are a few air force and army bases at the top.
