History of Nuwara Eliya Golf Club
The Burdett Trophy was initially contested in 1902 for the first time and remains an essential competition today. The British built tea factories, planters’ bungalows, a racecourse and, colonial hotels all of which seem to be frozen in time in a long gone era.
The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club is instilled with an unparalleled tradition and ambiance. The Club is situated right at the starting of Mount Pidurutalagala and has some of the finest tea gardens of Sri Lanka in the surroundings.
About Nuwara Eliya Golf Club
The Club currently has over 2,000 members. It welcomes golfers of all ages and abilities. It’s worth taking the time to explore the club to see the names of the old club members up on the wall in the wood-lined and well-stocked bar. Equipment is available to rent in the club shop and the staff will help you get kitted out.

This course is spread across approximately land measuring upto 100 acres, which was initially built within the tea plantations belonging to this central highland area.
The Nuwara Eliya golf course is a testing par 71 comprising of fairways, which are narrow and long, with dense shrubbery and tall trees on the borders. The 18-hole Nuwara Eliya Golf course is 6075 yards long. The grass that you see around on the field is local and, combined with bluegrass.
Nuwara Eliya Golf Club features a lush garden, few non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a lively bar. Also boasting a 24-hour front desk, this site also has a terrace and a restaurant. The property is located at a distance of about 10 Km from Hakgala Botanical Garden and approximately 2.09 Km from Galway's Land National Park.
