About Yercaud Tourism

Yercaud is called Yercaud because of the forest lake which was found here.

Some people also call it 'Ooty of the poor'. It is a beautiful hill station in the district of Salem which is in Tamil Nadu, India. You can locate Yercaud on the Shevaroys range of hills in the Eastern Ghats. Yercaud is sited at an altitude of 1516 meters above the sea level of the sea. The highest point in Yercaud is the beautiful Servarayan temple, which is at 5,327 feet. Yercaud is one of the most favorable hill stations for tourists who are willing to have a Yercaud one day tour even because it is encircled by natural cliffs.

In Yercaud people mainly earn by the plantation of coffee which was basically brought to Yercaud by Africans. While having Yercaud trip you can also come across hills and fauna which still reside here.

History of Yercaud

The name Yercaud was kept by the Tamil words yeri and kaadu. Yeri means lake and kaadu mean forest. Yercaud was founded by Sir Thomas Munroe governor in 1842. In the 1820s the district collector of Salem David Cockburn made efforts to develop this place and this was the reason that he was called " father of Yercaud”. In order to develop Yercaud, he cultivated many crops like tea, pears, coffee, and even apple. Yercaud always had a cool climate so many Christians got attracted and started schools in here. The local residents of Yercaud are known as vellalas or even the Malayalis. They got drifted from Kanchipuram about 500 years ago. The population of Yercaud has never exceeded 50,000 and still, it is around 38,0000.

Shopping in Yercaud

The main source of earning in Yercaud is its a plantation of coffee which was an African gift to them. The Yercaud tourist guide would definitely tell you about the Citrus fruits grown here. When you shop in Yercaud you will get attracted to the natural things the local people sell there like oil, coffee powder, chocolate which are homemade, sweets which will make you drool, fresh cheese items, beautiful jewelry, shawls, and sweaters. While having the Yercaud city tour the local shops you will find herbs which are natural and in many ways helpful. What will be better than buying fresh and natural things which aren't available nowadays?

Nilesh's 6 days trip to Yercaud

I recently used TravelTriangle to plan my trip to Ooty, and they partnered with All India Holidays for tour management. Vishwa and Rahul from All India Holidays excelled in crafting a well-structured itinerary. Rahul's attention to detail was impressive, ensuring timely bookings (like toy train tickets) and keeping me updated throughout. The hotels (Hotel Le Grand, Hotel Fairstay, Hotel Ultimate) were fantastic, and our driver, Arun Prakash, was accommodating. Although weather conditions affected some sightseeing, the overall experience was hassle-free and budget-friendly. However, I would have appreciated more proactive suggestions from the tour company on alternative activities during the bad weather. This would have further enhanced the experience. One area for improvement for TravelTriangle would be to maintain more direct involvement throughout the trip, as their role seemed limited after partnering with All India Holidays. Despite this, I totally recommend TravelTriangle and All India Holidays for their convenience and service quality.

Vikrant's 7 days trip to Yercaud

I recently booked a holiday package through Travel Triangle, and here's my experience: *Hotel:* We stayed at the Khan Gufa Hotel in Bandipur, which was generally good, but there were a few issues. The hotel provided false information about the safari, which was disappointing. Also hotel rooms are not suitable to stay. *Cab & Driver:* The cab driver sent by Lee Vacations was a 20-year-old boy who was good-natured but lacked driving skills and knowledge about the locations. Moreover, the cab agency seemed greedy, which was a bit of a concern. *Service of Travel Agent:* Despite the issues, the travel agent was very nice and decent. He was always available to address our queries and managed our trip effectively, even when he had to rely on another agent due to his limited knowledge of the locations. Overall, while there were some hiccups, the agent's service and efforts to resolve issues were commendable. With a bit more attention to detail and better coordination with suppliers, Travel Triangle could provide an even better experience for its clients. *Recommendation:* While I would recommend Travel Triangle for its agent's service, I would suggest they work on improving their supplier partnerships and quality control to ensure a smoother experience for clients.

Jay's 3 days trip to Yercaud

Hotel Breakfast was not good. No proper Management and seems lack of Man power. Network Issue in the room. Coonoor was not covered and Iternary should have been shared to Driver. It seems there was no proper communication provided to the Driver regarding hotel and Iternary. Overall it was okay.

Peenaz's 6 days trip to Yercaud

Hotels - Raisana was near and clean. Roopa hotel was well managed but it wasn't well managed but the food at their restaurant had a lot of soda in their fitters. We informed this there too. For the third stay we expected a deluxe stay and because of some miscommunication we ended in a lodge type place though an alternative was given to us but our mood was spoilt since we were expecting better for the price. We were kept in some lodging residency type of thing. Cab and driver - the drivers skills were good and he was experiencing but the car was old and broken. Firstly he outright refused to take us to all the places mentioned in the itinerary. The car's front seat was broken, back seat was coming out. The car needs maintenance. Service - I felt outsmarted by the travel agent twice and the mistake is mine that I trusted blindly. These two bad instances made me have a bad opinion. For the price I paid my stays except for the first one were pathetic
