Phuket Nightlife: Areas, Bars, Clubs, Shows And Costs

Night Market Tour In Phuket

Phuket has more than a dozen night markets, but four do most of the work for a first-time visitor: Lard Yai (the Sunday Walking Street in Old Town), the Naka Weekend Market, Chillva Market and Malin Plaza in Patong. Between them you can eat dinner for the price of a coffee back home, buy T-shirts and souvenirs at a fraction...

Simon Cabaret Show In Phuket

The Simon Cabaret Show in Phuket is a 600-seat cabaret theatre in Patong that has staged its glittering ladyboy revue since 1991. Three shows run every night, at 6:00, 7:30 and 9:00 PM, and each lasts around 70 minutes. Tickets start from about THB 561 (roughly Rs 1,615) when you book online, with Deluxe, VIP and VVIP seati...

Phuket nightlife runs from the neon chaos of Bangla Road to quiet cocktail bars in the Old Town, and it is comfortably the biggest after-dark scene of any Thai island. Patong is the loud heart of it, with clubs like Illuzion and Tiger, rows of open-air beer bars and go-go bars packed into a 400-metre strip. Beyond Patong there are beach clubs on Surin and Kamala, rooftop bars with sea views, and cabaret shows the whole family can watch. A big night can cost as little as 800 THB (about Rs 2,280) or run past 20,000 THB at a beach club. Here is where to go, what it costs in THB and rupees, and how to stay safe.

Phuket Nightlife By Area

Phuket is a big island and its nightlife splits by area, so the first decision is which part to base your evening in. Patong is the full-volume party zone. The rest of the island trades noise for something calmer, whether that is a beach club at sunset, a rooftop cocktail or a slow drink among the Old Town shophouses.

Area Vibe Best for Known for
Patong (Bangla Road) Loud, neon, non-stop A big night out, groups Clubs, go-go bars, beer bars, the 400m strip
Kata & Karon Relaxed beach bars A quiet drink, couples Live-music bars, sunset spots, a few late bars
Kamala, Surin & Bang Tao Upmarket beach clubs Sunset cocktails, day-to-night Catch, Cafe del Mar, Laguna resort bars
Phuket Old Town Hip cocktail & speakeasy bars A slow evening, no party pressure Thalang Road bars, Sunday Walking Street
Rawai & Chalong Local, low-key Expats, cheap beer, live bands Seafront bars like Nikita's

Patong and Bangla Road get their own section below. Of the rest, Kata and Karon on the west coast are for a drink rather than a rave, with beach bars, reggae rooms and the odd late bar a short ride south. Ska Bar, tucked under a tree at the end of Kata Beach, is the classic sundowner.

The stretch north of Patong through Kamala, Surin and Bang Tao is the island's smart belt, and it is beach-club country. Phuket Old Town has quietly become the most interesting after-dark corner, with speakeasy cocktail bars, wine rooms and live jazz in the Sino-Portuguese shophouses along Thalang and Dibuk roads. Down south, Rawai and Chalong are where expats and long-stayers drink, low-key and local with cheap beer and live bands.

Bangla Road And The Big Clubs

Bangla Road, or Soi Bangla, is the reason Phuket has the nightlife reputation it does. It is a 400-metre pedestrian strip in the middle of Patong that closes to traffic around sunset and turns into a wall of neon, music and street bars from about 9 pm. The crowd peaks between 10 pm and 1 am. Everything is here, from open-air beer bars and live-music venues to go-go bars down the side sois and the island's biggest clubs.

Illuzion is the headline club, a huge multi-level venue with an arena-style main floor, international DJs and an EDM crowd that has put it on Asia's club rankings. Tiger, set in a mock-fortress building at the mouth of Bangla, is the other landmark, spread over several bars and floors. Sugar Club is the more intimate EDM room, popular with younger travellers and groups, while White Room and a rotating cast of smaller clubs keep going into the early hours. Entry to the big clubs is usually free before a certain hour, then about 300 to 600 THB (Rs 855 to Rs 1,710) on event nights, often with a drink included.

The side streets off Bangla hold the go-go bars, with Suzy Wong's among the best known. This is adult-oriented nightlife, so know what you are walking into, watch your bar bill closely, and agree drink prices before you order. Beer on the strip is cheap, about 80 to 150 THB (Rs 230 to Rs 430) a bottle, and the beer bars themselves are free to walk into.

Beach Clubs In Phuket

Phuket's beach clubs are a daytime-into-evening scene rather than a late-night one, and they cluster on the smarter west-coast beaches north of Patong. You pay for a daybed or meet a table minimum, and in return you get a pool, DJs, food and one of the island's best sunsets.

Catch Beach Club on Surin is the original and still the benchmark, with international DJs from late afternoon on Surin's wide beach. Cafe del Mar on Kamala is the big, polished party option, with a beachfront pool, sunset sessions and regular events. YONA is the novelty, a floating beach club on a converted vessel moored off Patong that you reach by shuttle boat. KUDO sits right on Patong Beach if you want the beach-club feel without leaving the main strip. Weekend daybeds and table minimums usually start around 3,000 THB (from about Rs 8,550), so this is the splurge end of a Phuket night.

Rooftop Bars And Sunset Drinks

For a quieter, more grown-up evening, Phuket's rooftop bars trade dance floors for views and cocktails. They suit couples and anyone who wants a memorable drink without a late night.

Baba Nest, on top of the Sri Panwa resort at Cape Panwa, is the famous one, a small rooftop ringed by water with a near-360-degree view out to sea. It caps numbers at around 60 people and takes reservations only, sunset slots book out well ahead, and cocktails start near 450 THB (Rs 1,285). KEE Sky Lounge, above the KEE Resort right by Bangla Road, is the easy-access choice overlooking Patong Bay, with cocktails around 280 to 350 THB (Rs 800 to Rs 1,000) and a 5 to 7 pm happy hour. Fira and a growing set of hotel rooftops around Patong and Kata round out the scene. Most rooftop bars keep a smart-casual dress code, so leave the beachwear at the hotel.

Cabaret And Night Shows

Not every Phuket night is about bars. The island's big cabaret and theatre shows are a proper evening out, and unlike Bangla Road they work for families and mixed groups. These are the two shows most visitors choose between.

Show Where What it is Price (THB / Rs) Best for
Simon Cabaret Patong 70-min ladyboy cabaret; shows 6, 7.30 and 9 pm 800 to 1,000 / Rs 2,280 to 2,850 Couples, first-timers, older kids
Phuket FantaSea Kamala Theme-park cultural show, nightly except Thursday 1,800 show, 2,200 with buffet / Rs 5,130 to 6,270 Families with children

Simon Cabaret, in Patong, is the classic Phuket ladyboy cabaret, a 70-minute run of song, dance and comedy in a 600-seat theatre, and it is polished, camp and fine for older children. Phuket FantaSea, over in Kamala, is a different scale altogether: a whole theme park built around a Las Vegas-style cultural spectacular, Fantasy of a Kingdom, staged nightly except Thursday, with a big buffet option. It is the better pick for families with younger kids. You can read more and book the Simon Cabaret show and FantaSea through our things-to-do pages.

Two more big-production shows sit nearby if you want a third option. Siam Niramit in Phuket Town is a cultural stage show, now staged without animals since March 2026, and Carnival Magic in Kamala is a newer LED-lit carnival parade park from the FantaSea group. Both run in a similar price band to FantaSea, so check current tickets and show days when you book.

Night Markets After Dark

Phuket's night markets are where you eat, shop and wander when you do not want a drink at all, and they are some of the best-value evenings on the island. Stalls sell street food, cheap clothes, souvenirs and phone cases, and most get going after sunset. The biggest is the Naka Weekend Market near Phuket Town, open Saturday and Sunday nights, a sprawling mix of food, vintage and bargain stalls. Chillva Market is the trendier, more local one, a cluster of container units with food trucks and live music, and Malin Plaza in Patong is the handy choice if you are staying near Bangla and want a cheap dinner. Best of all is the Phuket Old Town Sunday Walking Street, known locally as Lard Yai, when Thalang Road closes to traffic and fills with food, crafts and street performers against the old shophouse backdrop.

What A Night Out Costs, And When To Go

Phuket can be a cheap night or a very expensive one, depending on where you point yourself. The table below is a rough guide to a night out per person, converted at 1 THB = Rs 2.85.

Night out style What it covers Approx. (THB) Approx. (Rs)
Backpacker / street Street beers, a Bangla bar-hop, one club door 800 to 1,500 2,280 to 4,275
Mid-range / couple Rooftop cocktails, a club with drinks, or a show ticket 2,500 to 5,000 7,125 to 14,250
Splurge / beach club A daybed or table minimum, bottle service 8,000 to 20,000+ 22,800 to 57,000+

For reference, a beer on Bangla Road is about 80 to 150 THB (Rs 230 to Rs 430), a club entry on an event night runs 300 to 600 THB (Rs 855 to Rs 1,710) with a drink, a rooftop cocktail is 280 to 450 THB (Rs 800 to Rs 1,285), and a weekend beach-club daybed starts near 3,000 THB (Rs 8,550). Cash is king on the strip, so carry enough and keep an eye on any bar tab you leave open.

On timing, Phuket nightlife runs all year, but it is busiest and best in the high season from November to April, when the weather is dry and the crowds and events peak. The May to October monsoon is quieter and wetter, though the bars, clubs, shows and markets all stay open and prices can be softer. Any night of the week is busy on Bangla Road, while the beach clubs and markets are liveliest at weekends. For the full seasonal picture, see our guide to the best time to visit Phuket.

Staying Safe On A Night Out

Phuket nightlife is generally safe, and violent crime against tourists is rare, but the usual big-party-town rules apply and a few scams are specific to the island. A little care keeps the night fun.

Save the tourist police number, 1155. It is a 24-hour, English-speaking line, and there is a tourist police box at the foot of Bangla Road. Call it for any dispute rather than settling things on the spot.

Watch your drink and your bill. Never leave a drink unattended, and be wary of accepting drinks from strangers, as spiking is uncommon but does happen in peak season. In go-go bars and some beer bars, check every item added to your tab and agree drink prices before you order, because padded bills are the most common complaint.

Know the common scams. The jet-ski damage claim, where you are billed for pre-existing scratches, is well known, so photograph any rented ski or bike first. Ignore the gem-shop and ping-pong-show touts, and use a Grab or a metered ride rather than negotiating with tuk-tuk drivers late at night.

Mind local etiquette. Always ask before photographing cabaret performers or bar staff, as a photo often comes with a small fee, and dress and behave respectfully once you step off the party strip. Drinking in the street on Bangla Road is normal, but public drunkenness elsewhere is not, and drink-driving is policed hard.

Plan Your Phuket Nights

The simplest way to do Phuket after dark is to base yourself in or near Patong for easy access to Bangla Road, the beach clubs and the shows, then head to the Old Town or Surin for a change of pace. Our Phuket desk team's rule of thumb is to reach Bangla Road before 10 pm if you want a table on the strip, then move to a rooftop or the Old Town when the club crowd peaks. For deeper, venue-by-venue detail, read our full guides to nightlife in Phuket, Bangla Road and nightlife in Patong Beach, see the wider things to do in Phuket or the Patong Beach guide, or plan the whole trip around a Phuket tour package with hotels and transfers sorted.

The areas, venues and price bands on this page were compiled and reviewed by the TravelTriangle Thailand desk and cross-checked against current Phuket venue listings for 2026. Nightlife venues open, close and rebrand often, and prices are approximate and converted at 1 THB = Rs 2.85, so confirm the latest hours and rates before you go.

The check-in process was seamless. The accommodation itself was beyond my expectations.I really love the swimming pool and the buffet breakfast. Beyond the hotel, the itinerary you crafted for us was diverse and captivating. From exploring the bustling streets of Bangkok to immersing myself in the natural wonders of Phuket, every destination left an indelible mark on my heart. Yugal was our travel agent. He was always available from the day we booked the trip till we completed our trip. He was always a call away and was helpful to resolve all the queries. His commitment was commendable. We took 4 night 5 days package. The hotels we stayed were fortunately good. Cab serv
ices were not as much cooperative as expected. I would suggest to include most imp tourist spots of bangkok/pattaya in basic package itself. Like we had a bangkok city tour in our package but reclining budha/watarun temple was not part of it. Better to have it included in basic packages which would improve customer satisfaction. But overall it was a good and hustle free experience.

    Phuket Travel FAQs

    Is Phuket nightlife safe?

Yes, Phuket nightlife is generally safe and violent crime against tourists is rare, but treat it like any busy party destination. Save the tourist police number 1155, never leave your drink unattended, check your bar bill for padded items, and agree prices before you order in go-go bars. Watch for the jet-ski damage scam, and use the Grab app rather than haggling with late-night tuk-tuk drivers. With those basics covered, most visitors have a trouble-free night out.

What is the best area for nightlife in Phuket?

Patong, and Bangla Road in particular, is the best area for a big night out, with the island's clubs, beer bars and go-go bars packed into one 400-metre strip. For something calmer, Kata and Karon have relaxed beach bars, Surin and Kamala have upmarket beach clubs, and Phuket Old Town has cocktail and speakeasy bars in its old shophouses. Rawai in the south is the low-key, local option. Pick the area to match the kind of night you want.

What is there to do at night in Phuket for couples or families?

Plenty beyond the party strip. Couples do well at the Old Town cocktail bars, a rooftop like Baba Nest or KEE Sky Lounge, or a beach club at sunset. Families can watch Simon Cabaret in Patong, which is fine for older children, or the bigger Phuket FantaSea theme-park show in Kamala, which is built for kids. The night markets at Naka, Chillva and the Old Town Sunday Walking Street suit every age and cost very little.

How much does a night out in Phuket cost?

A budget night of street beers, a Bangla bar-hop and one club door costs about 800 to 1,500 THB (Rs 2,280 to Rs 4,275). A mid-range night with rooftop cocktails, a club with drinks or a show ticket runs 2,500 to 5,000 THB (Rs 7,125 to Rs 14,250). A splurge at a beach club with a daybed or bottle service can pass 8,000 to 20,000 THB (Rs 22,800 to Rs 57,000). Prices are converted at 1 THB = Rs 2.85 and vary by venue and night.

What time does Bangla Road close, and when does it get busy?

Bangla Road closes to traffic and comes alive from around 9 pm, and the crowd peaks between 10 pm and 1 am. The open-air beer bars usually wind down between 1 and 2 am, while the big clubs like Illuzion and Tiger keep going until 2 to 3 am or later on busy nights. There is no need to arrive early, as the strip is at its best late, and any night of the week is busy in the high season.

Can I drink alcohol in public in Phuket?

On Bangla Road and inside bars, clubs and beach clubs, drinking is completely normal. Elsewhere, public drinking is less accepted, and shops cannot sell alcohol during restricted afternoon hours or on certain Buddhist holidays. Public drunkenness away from the nightlife zones can draw trouble, and drink-driving is policed strictly. Keep the drinking to the bars and the strip and you will be fine.

Is Bangla Road family-friendly, or can I bring kids?

Bangla Road is adult-oriented nightlife, with go-go bars and a loud, boozy crowd, so it is not suitable for young children in the evening. Walking through early, before about 8 pm, is fine and many families do glance at the neon, but it is not a place to linger with kids after dark. For a family night out, choose Phuket FantaSea, Simon Cabaret, a night market or a beach-club sunset instead.

When is the best time for nightlife in Phuket?

Phuket nightlife runs all year, but the high season from November to April is the busiest and best, with dry weather, peak crowds and the most events. The May to October monsoon is quieter and wetter, yet the bars, clubs, shows and markets all stay open and prices can be softer. For a single night, weekends are liveliest at the beach clubs and markets, while Bangla Road is busy every night.

How do I get around Patong and Bangla Road at night?

Bangla Road is pedestrian-only after dark, so you walk the strip itself. To reach it, and to get home, use the Grab app or a metered taxi rather than haggling with tuk-tuk and taxi drivers, who charge high fixed fares in Patong late at night. If you are staying in Patong, most nightlife is within walking distance. From other beaches, budget for the ride each way and agree the fare before you set off.
