What Is the Simon Cabaret Show?

Simon Cabaret is the show most people mean when they say they are going to see the ladyboys in Phuket. It opened in 1991 and has run out of the same purpose-built theatre in Patong ever since, which makes it one of the oldest cabaret productions in Thailand. The auditorium seats about 600 people, and on a busy night the theatre turns over close to a thousand visitors across its three sittings.

The performers are transgender and male dancers in elaborate costume, lip-syncing and dancing through a run of set pieces. One number might be a Bollywood tribute, the next a Korean pop routine, a Broadway medley, or a Thai cultural segment with traditional dress. Simon Paradise dancers and a couple of comic turns fill the gaps between the big production numbers. The staging is the other half of the ticket: layered sets, quick scene changes and a lot of sequins under stage lights.

It is built to be family friendly. Children of three and above are welcome, under-threes go in free, and infants below 12 months are not admitted. The humour stays broad rather than adult, so most families with school-age kids are comfortable here. If you want the wider spread of shows and attractions in the area, our Phuket things to do guide maps out the rest of an evening.

Show Timings and Duration

There are three shows a night, seven days a week, at 6:00 PM, 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM. Each one runs for about 70 minutes, so you are out in good time to move on to dinner or Bangla Road. The programme is the same across all three sittings, so pick the slot that fits your evening rather than chasing a particular show.

The 6:00 PM show is the calmest and the easiest to pair with an early dinner. The 7:30 PM sitting is the most popular and the one that sells out first in peak season, so book it a day ahead. The 9:00 PM show suits late starters and anyone combining the cabaret with a night out afterwards. Whichever you choose, aim to arrive 20 to 30 minutes early to collect tickets, use the restrooms and find your seats before the lights drop.

For the live schedule and any seasonal changes, see our dedicated Simon Cabaret show timings page.

Ticket Prices and Seating

Seating runs in three tiers. Deluxe is the standard seat and the cheapest, VIP moves you closer and more central, and VVIP puts you in the front rows for the fullest view of the costumes and choreography. Online booking is the cheapest way in, with entry starting from about THB 561. A ticket bundled with hotel transfers starts higher, from around THB 927. The table below shows indicative fares in Thai baht with an approximate rupee conversion, which almost no ticket site gives an Indian traveller.

Seat tier What you get Adult from (THB) Adult approx (Rs)
Deluxe Standard stalls, online rate 561 1,615
VIP Closer, more central seating 1,000 2,885
VVIP Front rows, best view 1,200 3,462
With transfers Ticket plus hotel pickup and drop 927 2,674

Fares are indicative and set by the operator and resellers, not by TravelTriangle. Rupee figures are approximate, converted at about 1 THB = 2.88 INR. Confirm the current tier and price at the box office or when you book.

On the child rate, under-threes are free, and children roughly 4 to 12 pay a reduced fare. For the full price breakdown by seat and age, and to lock a seat before the 7:30 PM show fills, see the Simon Cabaret entry fees page.

How to Reach Simon Cabaret

The theatre is at 8 Sirirat Road, Patong, on the southern edge of Patong Beach, a short hop from the main hotel strip. If you are staying in Patong you can often walk, or take a five-minute tuk-tuk. From Patong Beach and Bangla Road it is a quick metered taxi or Grab ride. From Phuket Town budget roughly 40 minutes by road, and from the airport around an hour depending on traffic.

The simplest option for most visitors is a ticket that includes hotel transfers, which removes the haggling and the late-night ride back. For turn-by-turn directions, parking notes and transfer options, our how to reach Simon Cabaret guide has the detail.

Dress Code, Cameras and What to Know Before You Go

  • Dress code. There is no strict rule. Smart casual is the norm, and shorts and sandals are fine. The theatre is strongly air conditioned, so carry a light layer if you feel the cold.
  • Photos. Filming and photography are not allowed during the performance. After the show the cast line up outside for photos, and a tip of around THB 100 per photo is the custom.
  • Arrive early. Get there 20 to 30 minutes before your slot to collect tickets and be seated before the doors close.
  • Language. The show is visual and set to music, so there is no language barrier. Anyone can follow it.
  • Duration and kids. At around 70 minutes it is short enough for younger children, who are welcome from age three.

What to Expect and Is It Worth It?

Simon Cabaret is a polished, high-energy variety show rather than a nightclub act. You get about 70 minutes of costume changes, dance numbers and light comedy, staged with the confidence of a production that has been running for more than three decades. It is one of the safer bets for a mixed group, since it works for couples, parents with kids and older travellers alike.

Set your expectations correctly and you will enjoy it. The performance is lip-synced, not live-sung, and the humour is broad. What you are paying for is spectacle: the costumes, the sets and the sheer pace. Travellers who go in wanting a slick, family-friendly Phuket night out tend to rate it highly. Book the Deluxe seats if you are watching the budget, since the theatre is small enough that there is no bad seat, and step up to VIP or VVIP only if you want the front-row detail. For most first-time visitors to Phuket, it is an easy yes.

Across the Phuket trips our team has planned, Simon Cabaret is one of the most requested evening add-ons, most often paired with a Patong dinner and a walk down Bangla Road. It is reviewed for accuracy against operator listings by our Thailand desk.

Simon Cabaret vs Phuket FantaSea: Which Show to Pick

These are the two big evening shows in Phuket, and they are not really competing for the same night. Both celebrate Thai culture, but they are built for different moods.

  Simon Cabaret Phuket FantaSea
Type Ladyboy cabaret, dance and comedy Cultural theme park with a stage spectacular
Length Around 70 minutes A full evening, show plus grounds and dinner option
Where Patong (central, easy to reach) Kamala (a drive from Patong)
Best for A quick, glitzy night near your hotel A whole-evening outing with kids

If you want a short, sparkly show close to Patong nightlife, choose Simon Cabaret. If you would rather give the whole evening to a themed park with elephants, a buffet and a large-scale stage show, read our Phuket FantaSea guide and pick that instead. Many visitors with a spare night do both, one early and one late in their trip.

What to Do Nearby After the Show

Simon Cabaret sits right at the edge of Patong, which is the busiest part of Phuket after dark, so the evening does not have to end at the theatre door.

  • Bangla Road. The main nightlife strip is a few minutes away, lined with bars, live music and street performers. It is at its liveliest after 9 PM.
  • Patong Beach. A short walk for a quieter end to the night, with a string of beachfront restaurants.
  • Night markets. Patong's markets are good for a late bite and cheap souvenirs on the way back to your hotel.

For the full after-dark plan, see our Phuket night market guide and the Phuket nightlife guide.

How to Book and Plan It Into Your Phuket Trip

Booking online ahead of time is both cheaper and safer than turning up at the box office, especially for the popular 7:30 PM slot in high season. Pick your seat tier, add hotel transfers if you would rather not sort a taxi, and keep the confirmation on your phone.

The easiest route is to fold the show into a wider Phuket itinerary so the transfers, timings and the rest of your days are handled together. Our Phuket tour packages can build Simon Cabaret into a trip alongside island hopping and the beaches, and every package is fully customisable. Our travellers have booked hundreds of Phuket evenings like this in the last 90 days.

Overall, we had a very good experience with our travel agent. The trip was planned well, all commitments were fulfilled as promised, and the coordination throughout the journey was smooth. The team was responsive, professional, and ensured that transfers, sightseeing, and bookings were arranged prop
erly, making the trip hassle-free. The only major disappointment was the hotel selected in Pattaya. The rooms were quite compact, we encountered cockroaches in the room, and the towels provided were not up to the expected standard. This part of the experience could have been much better. The itinerary was well designed overall; however, for some outdoor attractions, scheduling visits during the evening would have been preferable, especially during the summer season, to avoid the intense daytime heat and make sightseeing more comfortable. Despite these points, we appreciate the effort and support provided by the travel agent. The trip was enjoyable, and with a little more attention to hotel selection and timing of certain activities, the experience could have been excellent.

We recently booked an 11-day, 10-night land package to Thailand with Travtree Holidays, covering Bangkok, Phuket, and Krabi. Traveling with a 2-year-old can be challenging, but the overall experience was smooth and well-coordinated. Our itinerary was packed with great activities. In Bangkok, Safa
ri World was a huge hit with our little one, and the temple tours were beautiful. The Krabi leg was fantastic—the 7 Island Tour and the Jungle Tour were standouts. In Phuket, the Phi Phi Island tour and the Old City tour were both well-managed and enjoyable. Since we only opted for the land package and airport transfers, we relied heavily on their punctuality. The transfers were seamless, which is a massive relief when you’re hauling luggage and a toddler! The only disappointment was the Elephant Sanctuary tour. It felt very rushed, lasting only about an hour and a half, which didn't quite meet our expectations compared to the quality of the other excursions. Overall, we had a wonderful family holiday. Travtree Holidays provided great service and reliable transport. Highly recommended for families looking for a well-organized Thailand experience!

We recently booked our family trip to Thailand with Travtree Holidays, and it turned out to be an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The entire itinerary was very well organized, making the trip smooth and stress-free—especially important when traveling with young children (our ki
ds are 2 and 5 years old). All pick-ups were perfectly on time, and the vehicles provided were clean, comfortable, and spacious, which made commuting easy and relaxing for the whole family. The hotels arranged for us were excellent—family-friendly, comfortable, and conveniently located. Everything was thoughtfully planned, allowing us to enjoy each destination without any hassle. A special mention goes to our visits to Siam Ocean World (sea life) and Safari World & Marine Park. Both experiences were incredibly impressive and became the highlight of our trip. Siam Water World was fantastic for the kids, with exciting views of the sea creatures penguins etc that they thoroughly enjoyed. Safari World was equally amazing—the safari drive and shows were captivating, and seeing the animals up close was a memorable experience for both adults and children. Overall, Travtree Holidays ensured a seamless, enjoyable, and perfectly managed vacation for our family. We truly appreciate their professionalism and attention to detail and would highly recommend them to anyone planning a trip to Thailand—especially families traveling with young kids.

    Phuket Travel FAQs

What are the show timings at Simon Cabaret Phuket?

Simon Cabaret runs three shows every night, at 6:00 PM, 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM. The programme is the same at each sitting, and every show lasts around 70 minutes. Arrive 20 to 30 minutes early to collect your tickets and be seated before the lights go down.

How much are Simon Cabaret tickets?

Online prices start from about THB 561 (roughly Rs 1,615) for a Deluxe seat. VIP seating is around THB 1,000 (about Rs 2,885) and VVIP around THB 1,200 (about Rs 3,462). A ticket that includes hotel transfers starts from about THB 927 (about Rs 2,674). Prices are indicative, so confirm the current fare when you book.

What seating options are available at Simon Cabaret?

There are three tiers. Deluxe is the standard, cheapest seat. VIP moves you closer and more central. VVIP puts you in the front rows for the best view of the costumes and choreography. The theatre only holds about 600 people, so even Deluxe seats have a clear view of the stage.

How long is the Simon Cabaret Show?

Each performance runs for about 70 minutes with no interval. That keeps it short enough for younger children and leaves plenty of the evening for dinner or Bangla Road afterwards.

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

There is no strict dress code. Smart casual is the norm and shorts and sandals are perfectly fine. The one thing worth packing is a light layer, because the theatre is heavily air conditioned.

Where is Simon Cabaret located and how do I get there?

The theatre is at 8 Sirirat Road, Patong, at the southern end of Patong Beach. From central Patong it is a short walk or a five-minute tuk-tuk, about 40 minutes from Phuket Town, and around an hour from the airport. A ticket with hotel transfers is the easiest option. See our how to reach Simon Cabaret guide for directions.

Are cameras allowed, and can I take photos with the performers?

Photography and filming are not allowed during the show. Once it finishes, the cast line up outside the theatre for photos, and a tip of around THB 100 per photo is customary. So keep the camera away inside and save it for the meet-and-greet afterwards.

Can I take kids to the Simon Cabaret Show?

Yes. Children aged three and above are welcome, and under-threes go in free. Infants below 12 months are not admitted. The show is family friendly, with broad, visual humour rather than adult content, so it suits most families with school-age children.

Which is better, Simon Cabaret or Phuket FantaSea?

They suit different evenings. Simon Cabaret is a 70-minute ladyboy cabaret in central Patong, ideal for a quick, glitzy night near your hotel. Phuket FantaSea is a themed cultural park in Kamala built around a large stage spectacular and an optional buffet, so it is a whole-evening outing that works well with kids. Read our Phuket FantaSea guide to compare in full.

Is it cheaper to book Simon Cabaret online in advance?

Yes. Online fares are lower than the walk-up box office price, and booking ahead secures a seat for the popular 7:30 PM show, which sells out first in peak season. Booking online also lets you add hotel transfers so you do not have to sort a taxi on the night.

Is the Simon Cabaret Show worth it?

For most first-time visitors to Phuket, yes. You get a polished, high-energy variety show for around 70 minutes, at one of the longest-running cabaret theatres in Thailand. It works for couples, families and older travellers alike. Set your expectations for spectacle and lip-sync rather than a live concert and you will enjoy it.

What are the best seats at Simon Cabaret?

The theatre is small, so there is no bad seat. VIP and VVIP put you closer to the front for a fuller view of the costume detail, while Deluxe seats still see the whole stage clearly. If you are watching the budget, Deluxe is genuinely fine. Step up to VIP or VVIP only if front-row detail matters to you.
