With flights or land only?
Pick a package with flights if you want one price, one booking and the agent holding seats on the non-stop Vietnam Airlines departure. Those seats go first in the Diwali and Christmas weeks. Pick land only if you hold airline miles, want a one-stop fare via Mumbai to land in Ho Chi Minh City instead, or are flying in from somewhere else. The land price covers everything on the ground, and the agent plans the first day around whatever flight you book.
How to Reach Vietnam from Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad gets a full-service non-stop to Hanoi this winter. Vietnam Airlines flies Ahmedabad (AMD) to Hanoi (HAN) non-stop from 3 November 2026, four times a week on an Airbus A321. VietJet also flies non-stop from Ahmedabad to Hanoi (overnight, landing around 06:00) and to Ho Chi Minh City (late at night, about 5 hours). From 2 December 2026, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans a non-stop to Phu Quoc. Everything else needs one stop.
| Option | Route | How often | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Non-stop | Vietnam Airlines VN968, Ahmedabad 22:45 to Hanoi 04:35 (next day) | Tue, Thu, Sat, Sun | About 4 hrs 20 min |
| Non-stop, return | Vietnam Airlines VN969, Hanoi 17:35 to Ahmedabad 21:30 | Tue, Thu, Sat, Sun | About 5 hrs 25 min |
| Non-stop, low-cost | VietJet, Ahmedabad 00:10 to Hanoi 05:55 | Most days | About 4 hrs 15 min |
| Non-stop to the south | VietJet, Ahmedabad to Ho Chi Minh City (late-night departure) | Several times a week | About 5 hrs |
| Non-stop to Phu Quoc | Sun PhuQuoc Airways 9G314, Ahmedabad 01:00 to Phu Quoc 07:15 | Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sun from 2 Dec 2026 | About 4 hrs 45 min |
| One stop via Mumbai or Delhi | Ahmedabad to Mumbai or Delhi, then IndiGo, Air India, Akasa, Vietnam Airlines or VietJet to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City | Daily | 8 to 14 hrs with layover |
| One stop via Southeast Asia | Ahmedabad to Bangkok, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, then on to Hanoi, Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City | Daily | 8 to 14 hrs with layover |
Ahmedabad and Hanoi are about 3,400 km apart, and Vietnam runs 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of India. Since the non-stop lands before dawn, our agents can book your Hanoi hotel from the previous night so you can sleep on arrival. It adds one night to the bill and saves the whole first day. For Da Nang and Hoi An, add a domestic flight from Hanoi, about 1 hour 20 minutes to Da Nang. Flying from another Indian city? See how to reach Vietnam from India.
Vietnam e-Visa for Indians
Indian passport holders need a visa for Vietnam, and the e-visa is the simplest route. Apply on the official portal, evisa.gov.vn, at least 2 weeks before you fly. It costs US$25 for single entry or US$50 for multiple entry, allows a stay of up to 90 days and usually comes through in 3 to 5 working days. Your passport must be valid for 6 months from arrival. Enter "Hanoi Noi Bai" as your port of entry if you are taking the Ahmedabad non-stop, and let your agent check the form before you submit it, because a photo that does not match the passport is the most common reason for rejection. Before you fly, also file the free pre-arrival declaration at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn within 72 hours of landing; it does not replace the visa. The full step-by-step process is in our Vietnam visa for Indians guide.
What's Included in a Vietnam Package from Ahmedabad
Most Vietnam packages from Ahmedabad include hotels with breakfast, airport transfers, guided sightseeing and a Ha Long Bay cruise. Check whether the cruise is a day trip or an overnight stay. An overnight cruise includes dinner, kayaking and a sunrise on deck, and many boats head for the quieter Lan Ha or Bai Tu Long bays instead of the busy inner bay.
| Usually included | Usually not included |
|---|---|
| 3 or 4 star hotels on twin sharing, daily breakfast | E-visa fee (unless the card says visa included) |
| Airport transfers in Vietnam | Lunches and dinners not listed in the itinerary |
| Ha Long Bay cruise (day or overnight, as listed) | Tips for guides and drivers |
| Guided sightseeing with entry tickets on listed days | Travel insurance |
| Return economy flights from Ahmedabad on "with flights" cards | Ba Na Hills cable car, optional shows, personal shopping |
| Domestic flights on multi-city itineraries, where listed | Early check-in, unless booked as an extra night |
Sample Itineraries from Ahmedabad
4N/5D Hanoi, Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh (built around the non-stop flight)
Board VN968 at Ahmedabad on Tuesday night and land in Hanoi at 04:35 on Wednesday. Spend that day in the Old Quarter, take the overnight Ha Long Bay cruise on Thursday, row through the Trang An caves in Ninh Binh on Saturday and fly VN969 home on Sunday evening, landing at 21:30. The day-by-day plan, hotels and flight inclusions are on our 4 nights 5 days Vietnam package from Ahmedabad.
7N/8D Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Da Nang and Hoi An
Spend two nights in Hanoi and one on a Ha Long Bay cruise, then fly about 1 hr 20 min south to Da Nang. Ride the Ba Na Hills cable car to the Golden Bridge, the walkway held up by two giant hands made to look like weathered stone. The last two nights are in Hoi An, where the old town lights its lanterns every evening and tailors can stitch a suit in 24 hours. See the 8 days Vietnam tour with airfare. For a south-first trip with Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta, ask your agent to start in Ho Chi Minh City instead.
Ideal Duration
Five days covers Hanoi, Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh comfortably, and the non-stop flight makes that work with only three days off. Give Vietnam 7 to 10 days if you want the central coast too. That way you see Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Da Nang and Hoi An without spending half the trip in transit. Ten days or more lets you run north to south and finish in Ho Chi Minh City or on Phu Quoc.
Best Time to Visit Vietnam from Ahmedabad
The best time to visit Vietnam from Ahmedabad is October to April, which lines up with Diwali, Christmas and Uttarayan holidays. Vietnam is long and thin, though, so north, centre and south peak at different times. Match the region to your holiday window.
| Gujarat holiday window | North (Hanoi, Ha Long, Sapa) | Central (Da Nang, Hoi An) | South (Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Diwali vacation (late Oct to mid-Nov) | Dry, clear and about 20 to 28°C. Best pick | Rainy season, so skip | Rains easing, good from mid-Nov |
| Christmas and New Year (Dec to early Jan) | Cool, 15 to 20°C in Hanoi and near freezing in Sapa | Still wet | Dry and sunny. Best for Phu Quoc |
| Uttarayan and spring (Jan to Apr) | Mild, with clear skies by March | Dry from February | Hot and dry |
| Summer vacation (May to Jun) | Hot and humid, above 30°C | Peak beach season | Wet season starts |
Storms between July and October can call off Ha Long Bay cruises for a day, so keep a buffer day in a summer itinerary rather than skipping the bay. Pack a warm jacket for Hanoi in December and January, which surprises a lot of travellers from Gujarat. Month-by-month detail is in our best time to visit Vietnam guide.
Vegetarian and Jain Food in Vietnam
Vegetarian food is easy to find in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hoi An, and Jain food is possible with planning. Vietnam has a Buddhist vegetarian tradition called chay, and most cities have quán chay restaurants serving tofu, mushroom and vegetable dishes with no meat or fish. The catch is fish sauce, nước mắm, which goes into many ordinary dishes. Say "tôi ăn chay, không nước mắm" (I eat vegetarian, no fish sauce). For Jain meals add "không hành, không tỏi" (no onion, no garlic).
Hanoi's Old Quarter and District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City both have Indian restaurants serving Gujarati-friendly thalis. When you book, tell your agent you need vegetarian or Jain meals and they will plan dinners around these restaurants and request veg meals on the cruise. Deepa from New Delhi, who spent 10 days in Vietnam with us in May 2026, wrote in a review that food was the only hard part for a pure vegan. Ask for that planning upfront rather than on arrival. Carrying dry snacks such as thepla and khakhra in your bag helps on the Ha Long and Ba Na Hills day trips.

Tips
• The people are friendly, so learning some basic Vietnamese phrases goes a long way. "xin chao" is hello and "cam on" is thank you.
• Tap water may not agree with your stomach. Drink bottled water while travelling in Vietnam.
• Exchange currency only at authorised centres. Carry US dollars from Ahmedabad and change them to Vietnamese dong in Hanoi, where rates beat Indian forex counters. Rs 1,000 buys roughly 2,70,000 dong.
• Dress conservatively while visiting temples and pagodas in Vietnam, with shoulders and knees covered.
• Book Diwali and Christmas departures 45 to 60 days ahead. The Vietnam Airlines non-stop has one aircraft and four departures a week.
Ready to plan? Share your dates and group size once and compare up to three Vietnam quotes, with or without the Ahmedabad non-stop.
