It is a quaint hill station filled with pine and oak trees perched 1700 meters above the sea. Due to its pleasant weather, Lansdowne was established as a British cantonment in 1887 and named after the Viceroy of India, Lord Lansdowne. The nearest airport from Lansdowne is Jolly Grant Airport (DED) in Dehradun, about 142 km from Lansdowne city. This domestic airport in Uttarakhand serves nearby towns like Dehradun, Mussoorie, Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Lansdowne. The airport has daily flights to Delhi, Bangalore, and Bombay.
