Best Nightlife In Hanoi

Here are the ideal places to be for the best nightlife in Hanoi.

1. Bia-Hoi Junction

If one goes to the corner of Ta Hien and Luong Ngoc Quyen streets in the old quarter of the city, they will find hundreds of people seated on plastic chairs and stools, sipping on their pints of beer and chatting among themselves. This is the famous Bia-Hoi Junction of Hanoi. Nightlife in Hanoi city is incomplete without a visit to this bustling junction and enjoying a drink of Bia-Hoi here. It is a Vietnamese draught beer, which is often served here with delicious sides like skewered meat or fried tofu. The carnival-like atmosphere spilling onto the street is what makes this place so special.

2. Hanoi Night Market

Night markets in Hanoi Vietnam are many, and they are very popular among the locals as well as tourists. While the majority of them are for grocery and daily shopping of vegetables, meat and fish for the residents, some of them cater to the visitors as well. Hanoi weekend night market is the one most visited by them. Almost everything under the roof can be found in this Hanoi old quarter night market from Friday to Sunday, and at really pocket-friendly prices. Clothing, jewellery, décor pieces, and handicrafts – all are available, spreading over some 4000 stalls.

3. Vietnam Central Circus

For a very different sort of experience in Hanoi, visit the Vietnam Central Circus in Nguyen Du area. Inside the premises of a large park, the circus troupe performs acrobats, fire plays and tricks, animal shoes and features the usual clowns and their juggles. Although the schedule can be predictable, it is a great way to relive this almost-extinct form of entertainment for an evening with family.

4. The Bank Hanoi

The Bank Hanoi is tailor-made for those who love pure nightclubbing. There are three separate lounge floors inside The Bank Hanoi, with tunes catering to every choice – hip-hop, the 40s and 50s, jazz and blues and house mixes. Cocktails and neat drinks are served in abundance. The special thing about The Bank Hanoi is the great view of the Hoan Kiem Lake from the sixth floor of the Capital Building and a dazzling bird’s eye capture of the downtown and Hanoi night markets.

5.  Water Puppet Theatre

Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre pays a tribute to this centuries-old art form that has its roots back in the 11th century. Local North Vietnamese farmers used to entertain themselves with water puppetry when the place would get flooded by the Red River. The theatre now performs on an artificial pool of water and draws tourists to a houseful show every day. The stories of puppetry are mostly Vietnamese folklore and legends, like the Legend of the Restored Sword of King Le, accompanied with dramatic music played by the live orchestra.
