Darjeeling is a place of immense beauty. Possibly one of the biggest tourist attractions in West Bengal, there are many beautiful places to visit in Darjeeling. Famed for its distinctive black tea, and its narrow gauge railway or the “Toy Train”, tourist places in Darjeeling have a rustic charm.
The best places to visit in Darjeeling include Tiger Hill. A beautiful sunrise accompanied by hot tea from local vendors is a must at one of the experiences to have in Darjeeling. With some luck, this hill spot located just eleven kilometers from the town offers clear views of Mount Kanchenjunga from its observatory. Sightseeing in Darjeeling can be kick-started from this brilliant location.
Another great Darjeeling tourist spot is the Tea Garden. Having said that, some of the finest tea in India is grown, processed, and exported to the U.K. and the Netherlands from the backyard of Darjeeling. Darjeeling took it's name from a monastery that was built in the area in 1765. Though there is not excessive historical significance to Darjeeling, it still developed as a place for well to do Indians and the British during colonial times. Thus that era in time has left it's imprint on Darjeeling that can still be observed today.
