How to reach Gyuto Monastery in Dharamshala

Gyuto Monastery is well known for its Tantric studies, and is also famed as one of the most famous Tibetan monasteries in India.

It was set up in Tibet originally, but was then shifted to India after the Chinese invasion of the country. Getting to the Gyuto Monastery is pretty easy, although it is located 8 kms from Dharamshala and 13 kms from McLeod Ganj. It is located at Sidbhari on the main road to Palampur, and can be reached within half an hour.

The road is well maintained, so you can drive your own vehicle or hire a taxi. Local buses also ply on this route regularly, although the peak hours might stifle you a bit. If visiting on Wednesdays or Saturdays, when visitors are also allowed to take part in the prayers, make sure to leave a little early so as to avoid the crowds.
