If you’re planning to visit the town, you should go through the following information that will assist you on how to reach Dharamshala from Kolkata by the different modes of transport available:

Kolkata To Dharamshala By Air: The nearest airport to Dharamshala is Gaggal Airport in Gaggal near Kangra at a distance of around 15 km from Dharamshala. However, there are no direct flights available. The best way to reach Dharamshala via air from Kolkata is to take a connecting flight from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport to Gaggal Airport via Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. There are a number of flight operators providing daily services from Kolkata to Delhi. Air India and SpiceJet provide with daily flights from Delhi to Gaggal. Kolkata to Dharamshala flight fare ranges from 7000 to 10000 depending on the date of booking. You can then opt for a bus or a cab which will take around 30 minutes to reach Dharamshala from Gaggal Airport.

Kolkata To Dharamshala By Train: There are no direct trains between Howrah and Dharamshala. The nearest railway station to Dharamshala is Pathankot, which is about 85 km away. Himgiri Superfast Express, which runs three days in a week, is the fastest train from Kolkata to Pathankot railway station. From Pathankot Railway Station, you have to book a cab or opt for a bus which should take around 2 to 3 hours.

Kolkata To Dharamshala By Road: The distance between Dharamshala and Kolkata is 1,964 km. You can opt for self-drive or hire a cab. It will take about 34 hours on a road journey via NH19 from Kolkata to reach Dharamshala. Unfortunately, there are no buses available that connect the two cities.
