Zorbing In Manali, Himachal

Zorbing is one of Manali’s most popular adventure activities, and almost all of it happens on the grassy slopes of Solang Valley, about 14 km from town. You climb inside a large double-walled plastic ball, get strapped in beside a friend or a guide, and roll down the hillside while the world tumbles around you. The padding does the hard work. Even if the ball knocks against a rock or a bush on the way down, it bounces off and rolls on to the flat run-out at the bottom, and the harness keeps you from being thrown around inside.

The ride is short and fast. One roll is over in a minute or two, which is exactly why most people queue up for a second and third go, and at these prices you can. Operators run three versions on the slope: dry hill zorbing, the classic downhill roll; water (aqua) zorbing, where a little water is added inside the ball for extra slide; and snow zorbing when the higher slopes near Marhi and Gulaba still hold snow in early spring.

Where to Do Zorbing in Manali

Solang Valley is the main zorbing ground, roughly 14 km and a 40-minute drive up the Manali to Rohtang road. The wide, gentle meadow here is what makes it safe to roll, and it doubles as the hub for paragliding, the ropeway and snow play, so a single trip up covers several activities. Best Time for Zorbing in Manali

The slopes are best from April to June, once the winter snow has melted and the grass is dry and firm. That is peak season, so go early in the day to beat the queues. A second, shorter window opens after the monsoon, roughly late September into October. Zorbing usually pauses through deep winter and the heavy monsoon weeks, when the ground turns slushy. Zorbing at Solang is run by trained operators who strap you in and check the harness before every roll, so it is safe for first-timers and children alike.
