The entire park is a combination of a Wetland Interactive World, a visitor center, and a Wetland Reserve. The interactive world area has plenty to offer to the tourists, like a theatre area, an indoor play area which is called the swamp adventure, themed exhibition galleries, and also a resource center.

Hong Kong Wetland Park History

The ecological mitigation area of Tin Shui Wai area was considered for expansion by the Hong Kong Government and the project got started in the year 1998. The aim of this mission was to convert the ecological mitigation area into a wetland eco-tourism attraction. This was done so by the Hong Kong Tourism Board and Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department.

This is how the Hong Kong Wetland Park came into existence without hampering the functions of ecological mitigation. Tourism in the area also increased as a result of the project. The park was awarded the Awards for Excellence: Asia Pacific Competition, by the Urban Land Institute because of its world-class features and the sustainability of the ecological mitigation area.

Hong Kong Wetland Park Animals

There are many animals and birds in the park. These species enjoy a natural habitat for themselves here. There is a famous crocodile here in the Hong Kong Wetland Park called Pui Pui. The name of the crocodile is derived from a Chinese river called Shan Pui River. This creature is quite a darling of the many tourists who visit the park. It lives in a landscaped enclosure that is in a complete view of the tourists. The habitat for the crocodile was made keeping in mind its comfort. Hence, facilities like infrared heaters, weighing scale, and heating pad were also installed for the reptile to live comfortably.
