About Pura Tirta Empul In Bali
The meaning of Tirta Empul in Balinese means Holy Spring. Tirta Empul temples is a very important temple to the people of Manukaya village, especially the holy spring that flows within the temple. Pura Tirta Empul temple is the national cultural heritage site of the country that depicts the legendary tales about the good versus the bad. The temple has a bathing structure there people can undergo the process of ritual purification. The waterfalls in the pool flows through a spring which the local people call as amritha.
For over hundreds and hundreds of years, Balinese Hindus have performed prayers and rituals in the holy spring that is said to have been created by Lord Indra who possesses the curative properties. The customs and traditions have not been changed so far and even till today people of all faith are welcomed to Tirta Empul Bali and bless their life with the holy water.
Highlights about Pura Tirta Empul
It is said that during the Warmadewa dynasty the temple was found near a large water spring somewhere around 962 AD. Tirta Empul is dedicated to Lord Visnu. The front yard of the Tirta Empul temple is called Jaba Pura, the central yard is called Jaba Tengah and the inner yard is called Jeroan. The central yard as 2 pools with 30 showers. Sudamala dan Pancuran Cetik, Pengelukatan, and Pebersihan are the names of the showers. The water inside the bath is totally clean for performing the rituals of purification as per the Hindu tradition. There is a large pool filled with Koi fish just near the exit of Tirta Empul. This particular section is walled off from all the four sides of the complex, therefore giving the tourist a perfect and a relaxing atmosphere.
