Wayanad trip 3 days 2 night completed with good memories. Hotel was so good but complimentary breakfast not good. Cab driver experience in hill station driving was good but lacked location knowledge - so we relied on Google maps. Robin was helping with good itenary and quote. Overall nice trip.

I am giving four stars due to a bad boathouse experience; otherwise, all hotel arrangements were good. The overall experience was good, apart from a few glitches such as the boathouse experience and a bad experience with the cab driver on the last day. All other arrangements were good.

What is the relevance of the place?

It is the only Buddhist temple in Kerala and a testimony to the existence of Buddhism in Kerala, Karumadikuttan is a black granite figure sitting in a small village called Karumadi between Kollam and Alappuzha. The figure is said to date back to between the 9th to 14th centuries CE. Sitting on the banks of the vast expanse of the Punnamada Lake in Alleppey District, Kerala, people come to worship the deity in the
Karumadikuttan.

What is the history behind this tourist attraction?

The granite statue of Karumadikuttan Buddha is believed to have been built by Buddhist monks who visited Kerala between the 9th and 11th centuries through the port of Alappuzha, carrying the message of love and non-violence. Keralites who followed Buddhism gradually became Hindus.
