Delhi to Manali Package Cost: Budget, Standard and Luxury

How much a Manali trip from Delhi costs comes down to three things: how long you stay, when you go, and whether you travel by Volvo or private cab. The bands below are per person on twin-sharing, drawn from our live package cards. Snow season (December to February) and the May to June peak sit at the top of each band; shoulder months are cheaper.

How To Reach Manali From Delhi

There is no airport or major railway station in Manali itself, so almost every Delhi to Manali trip ends with a hill drive. Here is how each option actually works, and what it adds to your package.

By Volvo or bus (the default)

The overnight Volvo is how most people reach Manali from Delhi. Semi-sleeper and sleeper coaches leave Delhi (ISBT Kashmere Gate and Majnu Ka Tila) in the evening and reach Manali the next morning in about 13 to 14 hours, so you travel while you sleep and save a full day. It is also the cheapest way in, which is why our budget packages are built around it. HRTC and private operators both run this route; an AC Volvo seat is the comfortable middle ground.

By road / private cab

Self-drive or a private cab covers roughly 530 km on NH44 and NH3 through Chandigarh, Bilaspur, Sundernagar and Mandi, then along the Beas into the Kullu valley. Reckon on 12 to 14 hours with breaks. A cab suits families and groups who want to stop at will and keep the vehicle for local sightseeing; it costs more than the Volvo but the price splits well across four to six people.

By air

The nearest airport is Kullu-Bhuntar (KUU), about 50 km south of Manali. Seasonal flights connect Delhi with Bhuntar in roughly 1 hour 35 minutes, followed by a 2 hour drive up to Manali. Flights are weather-dependent in this valley, so most travellers keep the Volvo or cab as a backup.

By train

There is no direct broad-gauge line to Manali. The practical railhead is Chandigarh, about 310 km away, from where you pick up the road leg (8 to 9 hours) or an onward Volvo. The narrow-gauge station at Jogindernagar is closer by distance but slow, so it is rarely the sensible choice for a Delhi traveller heading to Manali.

Places to Visit and Things to Do in Manali

• Hadimba Devi Temple. A 1553 cedar-wood temple built by Maharaja Bahadur Singh, set in dense deodar forest about 2.3 km from town. Open roughly 6 am to 8 pm; go early to beat the crowd.

• Solang Valley. The adventure hub 14 km from Manali. Paragliding, the ropeway/cable car, zorbing and ATV rides run here in season, and it turns into a snow-play ground in winter.

• Atal Tunnel and Sissu. The 9 km Atal Tunnel, opened in 2020, cuts under the Rohtang range and drops you into Lahaul. A day trip through it to Sissu (waterfall, riverside meadow) is now the marquee Manali outing and a favourite on our packages.

• Old Manali and Mall Road. Old Manali is the cafe-and-riverside quarter across the Manalsu; Mall Road is where the evening shopping and street food happen.

• Vashisht Hot Springs. Natural sulphur springs and an old stone temple 3 km from Manali, a warm stop after a cold day out.

• Manali Sanctuary. A 3,000-hectare reserve 2 km from town with deodar forest and, if you are lucky, musk deer, monal and brown bear. Open about 6 am to 5 pm.

• Manu and Nyingmapa temples. Manu Temple honours the sage Manu; the Himalayan Nyingmapa (Tibetan) monastery, close to Mall Road, is worth it for the wall paintings and the Sakyamuni idol.

• Jogini Falls and Rohtang Pass. A short forest trek reaches Jogini Falls above Vashisht. For a bigger day, a bike or cab run to Rohtang Pass (about 13,050 ft) draws riders from all over.

Best Time to Visit Manali From Delhi

Manali works in every season, so pick by what you want. March to June brings pleasant, sunny days, melting snow and easy trekking weather, which is why summer is the busiest window from Delhi. November to February is snow season: skiing and snow play at Solang, temperatures that can dip to around minus 7, and pine forests under white. Ideal Duration for a Manali Trip From Delhi

Four days is the sweet spot. A 4D/3N trip, or 5D/4N if you want to add a Kullu or Kasol day, gives you Solang, the Atal Tunnel and the temples without rushing, once you account for the overnight Volvo each way. A 2N/3D break works if Manali is a weekend add-on, and 6N/7D opens up the Spiti loop.
