North East tour Package From Delhi

The North East of India has a fascinating, unique and special culture of its own, with various different languages and traditions. It is also a land of incredible scenic beauty, with lofty mountain tops covered in snow, lush forests with a massive level of biodiversity, not only in terms of the animals living there but also the plants and flowers that bloom in the region's soil.

Kaziranga National Park

Established as a reserve forest more than 100 years ago, Kaziranga National Park is one of the most beautiful and educational places in all of the North East offering a gorgeous landscape, decorated by the Brahmaputra River’s flow through it. Additionally, due to the presence of this national park, various endangered species have found shelter here, such as the one-horned rhinoceros.

Imphal War Cemetery

Maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the Imphal War Cemetery’s grounds contain 1600 burials of the war dead, 1462 of which have been recognised. Initially, there were 950 such burials here, but after the end of World War II, the burials of certain smaller cemeteries were moved to these grounds.

Cherrapunji

Home to the Khasi people, Cherrapunji is a hill station located in the state of Meghalaya in the North East. Its primary attraction the massive amounts of rainfall it experiences and it currently holds the world record for the highest amount of rain in a calendar month and year, measuring at an incredible 9300 millimetres in July 1861 and 26461 millimetres between August 1, 1860, and July 31, 1861. Also known as Sohra, this town, beyond its hefty rainfall, offers some splendid sights to the visitors, with the gorgeous Nohkalikai Falls located only about 7 km from there.

Ideal Duration

The North East takes up about 8% of India’s entire landmass, giving you a lot of ground to cover. So, if you wish to have a fulfilling vacation here, it’s best if you decide to take about 10 days to do it. You can explore all of this history and nature with the North East packages from Delhi.

Best Time to Visit

The North East is a varied landscape, so the temperatures tend to vary depending on which place you’re talking about. The lower-lying regions or plains may have weather that is different from that in the more mountainous areas.

Summer

Besides some of the regions in Arunachal Pradesh specifically that aren’t located at high elevation, temperatures around here don’t exceed 30 °C during the summers which crop up from April to June. This may be the best time to visit the North East for people who aren’t used to the more intense chill that does sometimes come with the mountainous landscape of the area. Additionally, you won’t have to worry about snowfall blocking any of your routes in most parts of the region.

Monsoon

The rainfall here is some of the most intense out of anywhere in the world, which is especially true of towns such as Cherrapunji and Mawsynram. Temperatures here bounce around between 9 °C to 35 °C, depending on the time of day. While the valley’s greenery is in full bloom during the monsoon, with its rivers gushing at full tilt, the roads become extremely slippery and many adventure activities become unavailable due to the risk involved. If that isn’t a priority, however, there are still some wonderful sights to be seen here.

Winter

Many parts of the North East, especially those that you’d have to crane your neck up for, experience a decent amount of snowfall during this time. The temperatures are generally low all over the terrain, with the maximum being around 22 °C range during the day, but they can plunge to as low as -10 °C, too. Experiencing snow in this beautiful land is an absolute delight and if you wish to do the same, a North East tour package from Delhi to take you there between the months of October and March may be what you’re looking for.

How to Reach

By Air

The cities of Guwahati, Silchar, Dibrugarh in Assam, Imphal in Manipur, Dimapur in Nagaland and Agartala in Tripura all have airports. There is good connectivity to flights here from Delhi as well, and travel durations range between 3 to 5 hours if the flight is non-stop.

By Rail

Train travel to the North East is a bit of a tricky affair, as not all the states have a well-connected railway network. Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Sikkim have direct trains from Delhi, but Mizoram, Meghalaya and Manipur aren’t yet accessible by train, although there are plans in place to change that.

By Road

Road trips to the North East are a popular and satisfying way to explore the entirety of these regions. When you set off on this journey, however, keep in mind that it is going to be a long one. The state in the North East that is closest to Delhi is Sikkim and even that is about 1600 km journey. However, the experience of road travel past the landscape allows you to get a great look at the region’s stunning vistas. This is especially true if you’re going to be driving there yourself, be it on a bike or in a car, as it gives you the autonomy to stop wherever you’d like and experience all of the stopovers along the region. Beyond that, there are many mountain passes that are a pleasure to drive on, such as the winding patch of road between Kalimpola and Zuluk.

We requested senior citizen and kids friendly limited destination, however despite of saying that we don’t need multiple location , mostly location we’re not senior citizen and kids friendly.. not wheelchair friendly . We were not satisfied with the travel itinerary, we were not aware of the provided location needs so much of walking. The price were lower from other agents . But the plan was not user friendly , we had 3 senior citizen and 4kids under 5. Tempo traveller

Kumar's 7 days trip to North East

Our 10-day tour of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya with Northeast Window Travels was a memorable experience. Eliyaz, provided excellent care, even assisting with the special NRI permits and expertly navigating the drive to Tawang, with stops in Dirang to visit monasteries. While some hotels initially fell short of expectations, Eliyaz promptly addressed our feedback and arranged alternative accommodations, which we greatly appreciated. Kids especially loved Tarayana Homestay in Sappercamp Village, Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was lovely, and the host was incredibly welcoming. We also had a great dining experience at Prashaanti Cottages in Bhalukpong—the food there was amazing and definitely worth trying if you're in the area. We highly recommend both Tarayana Homestay and Tawang Heights for anyone planning a trip to this region. For future travelers considering this tour, few recommendations: don’t include dinner in the package, as local dining options can be preferable; confirm the availability of in-room heaters (many are chargeable); and verify hotel details before the trip. Overall, despite these minor issues, we had a fantastic time and commend Eliyaz and the Northeast Window Travels team for creating such a wonderful trip.

Tips

The North East is a massively expansive and diverse patch of terrain, so it may be important to keep in mind some simple pointers that will iron out the kinks.

  • Depending on which state you are travelling to, you may need certain special permits. if you are an Indian citizen and you’re looking to cross the border into the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram, you will require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) that is issued by the respective state governments, while it is not necessary for entry into Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura.
  • Foreigners also require permits known as Protected Area Permits (PAP) for the entirety of Sikkim and parts of Arunachal Pradesh, but not elsewhere in the North East.
  • While this isn’t true everywhere in the North East, rainfall is a year-round occurrence here. So make sure to carry an umbrella or raincoat regardless of the time of year you’re visiting there, as an unexpected and sudden drizzle may catch you off guard.
  • Internet and mobile networks may be a bit spotty depending on where you are on a given day. The major cities have decent connections and internet cafes if required, but you’re not going to be able to stay online everywhere.

The North East is in stark contrast to the culture of the rest of India. It is a vibrant, lively and wonderful land that is sure to make for a worthwhile trip. So look for some North East packages from Delhi and have a vacation in the lap of the lofty mountains.
