This period of travel proves to be the best one as the weather is really pleasant, neither the days are too hot nor the nights are harsh. Though, many animal lovers prefer visiting Karnataka in the monsoons that is between May and September to catch the glimpses of the exotic flora and fauna. Choose from our range of tour packages for Karnataka that suit you best.

October through April is the best time to visit Karnataka and South India. Owing to the location of the state in South India, the climate of Karnataka remains on the warmer side throughout the year. Here’s a season-wise detailed look at the best season to visit Karnataka for a holiday.

Summer Season

Due to its highlands, most tourist destinations in Karnataka don’t experience hot and humid summer i.e. from April to June. The coastal, north central, and south central are the main three climatic zones of Karnataka. Bangalore experiences moderate summer, with day temperatures hovering around 35 to 40 degrees. Cities in northern Karnataka witness scorching summers with temperatures reaching 45 degrees in April and May. The hill stations of Karnataka provide respite to the tourists from plains of Karnataka as well as the other parts of India. If you’re planning to visit hill stations like Coorg then summer is the best time to visit Karnataka.

Monsoon Season

Monsoon season in Karnataka lasts from July through September. The region receives about 143 inches of average rainfall annually. Once travelers can go past thunderstorms and hard-to-access roads, hill stations in the Western Ghats are really scenic and atmospheric during a downpour. Mountain streams flow with full power before tumbling over forested hills as spectacular waterfalls. Although the monsoon season is a bit humid in Karnataka, it brings in lots of heavy showers and thunderstorms from the month of July to September. Monsoon is the best season to visit Karnataka for those looking to catch a glimpse of the exotic flora and fauna of wildlife sanctuaries in Karnataka.

Winter Season

Winter is an ideal time to visit Karnataka. Regions closer to the Arabian Sea and beaches of Karnataka are a little warmer and mostly sunny. From November through March, the weather of Karnataka remains clear and the temperature hovers under 30 degrees in the daytime. Winter is the best time to visit Karnataka. Travelers can plan a safari to Bandipur National Park or Nagarhole National Park to encounter wildlife in Karnataka and exotic flora. Winter season may be a little more crowded but overall, it’s the best season to visit Karnataka.

How To Reach Karnataka?

Talking of how to reach Karnataka, it is well connected to the rest of the nation via all three prominent means of transportation. The two airports that offer international to and fro Karnataka are the HAL airport in Bangalore and the Mangalore international airport. There is a well laid railway network that connects Karnataka to the rest of the nation. Also there are buses owned by the Government of Karnataka which make the travel easy. Go through the following to get a detailed view:

By Air

There are seven cities in Karnataka with airports: Bangalore, Mangalore, Mysore, Hampi, Hubli, Belgaum, and Bijapur. The Bengaluru International Airport or the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and the Mangalore International Airport are the only two airports that operate international flights to and from Karnataka. One of the busiest airports in India, Bangalore Airport is connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Jaipur with direct flights by Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet. The airport in Mangalore is served by flights from Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Taking a flight from Delhi or Mumbai to Karnataka is the quickest option to travel.

By Train

Rail transport in Karnataka is yet to reach some district headquarters. The train connectivity within Karnataka state is relatively poor. However, all major cities of Karnataka are well connected to other parts of India by a train route. Bangalore railway station is Karnataka’s most important railway terminal. The capital city of Bangalore is connected to only a few district headquarters by railroad.

By Road

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is the government operator for road transport in Karnataka. It connects major cities and tourist destinations in Karnataka with both intra-state and interstate buses. KSRTC reservation for bus tickets can be made online in advance. The National Highways in Karnataka run for 3,973 kilometers. As one can see in Karnataka district map, smaller towns and district headquarters are well connected by state highways. For transportation within city or town limits, motorbikes, auto rickshaws, and buses are good options.

Ankita's 5 days trip to Karnataka

The tour was very well planned. All the hotels were good. The bangalore hotel, Treebo akshaya was spacious however they do not provide dinner and breakfast was too poor. Mysuru hotel, Le Ruchi prince was excellent. Buffet dinner was superb, had multiple veg and non veg varieties. Rooms were so classy and the staff was so helpful. Ooty hotel, Delightzz inn was the best best. Location, staff, food quality, rooms, Ambiance, staff everything was outstanding. Best part of the trip was when we travelled all the way from Mysuru to Ooty and the hotel is at the top of the hill. Literally at the end of the hill and when we entered that was the best best part.

We had a good time. Tempo reached the station on time and the driver took good care of taking us to different places. Room stay was comfortable and neat. The only flaw in planning was the location of the room and the sites. All sites were very far away from the room stay and for food it was so difficult. Jeep ride to Mandalpetti peak and river rafting.
