Day 1: Flying like a Freebird
We boarded the bus arranged by TravelTriangle in New Delhi and after a joyful overnight journey, we arrived in Bir Billing at 9 am the next day. We relished that chance to finally stretch our legs and breathe in the fresh mountain air after a long bus journey. Post breakfast, we boarded a cab that took us to the paragliding starting point.
I was a bit apprehensive of the whole paragliding experience. After all, it wasn’t normal to ask a person to jump off a cliff and trust the parachute on their back. However, I nailed my take-off in the first instance itself, and what followed afterward was absolutely magical. The feeling of soaring like a bird above the magnificent mountains was something I can never forget. Although, one expects a clear sky while paragliding, but the November mist added a tinge of charm to the entire experience.
After the 20-minute paragliding stint was over, we waited for the entire group to end their glide and then moved to experience camping in Bir Billing. By the time we reached, it was already getting dark. Our campsite had bonfire, music, and food for everyone. We had a gala time underneath the night sky getting to know new people. It was a bit misty before midnight, but around 2 am the skies cleared and we had a fantastic time stargazing for an hour before we rested for the night.

Day 2: A sunrise to remember
The next morning, our adventure trip to Bir-Billing resumed with a 6 am sunrise. I was smitten by the beautiful setting just as the sun rose above the snowy peaks far away. We had the best seats in the house for sure. After breakfast, we started our trek. Cutting through the jungle, walking through unexplored realms, and encountering challenging boulders and narrow passageways made our experience of Bir Billing trekking all the more enjoyable!
After trekking for a few hours, we reached the main town downhill and had a hearty meal. Post lunch, we visited a local monastery in Bir-Billing which felt incredibly peaceful and divine. With this visit, we wound up our weekend getaway in Himachal.

I liked the trekking route in Bir-Billing as compared to other places, as it was rather raw and unexplored. The place is utterly unspoilt, at times seemingly haunted, but it added to the adventure. Stargazing, trekking, and paragliding packed in a weekend was for us the perfect quick adventure trip we could have asked for.
