In the past few years, I heard many good things about Andaman and its untouched natural beauty. My wife and I were looking for an opportunity to plan a trip to Andaman. Luckily, my friend and his wife approached us for a trip to a beach destination, and voila! All of us unanimously agreed for Andaman.

Day 1: Exploring the past of Port Blair

After an early morning flight from Kolkata, we arrived in Port Blair at 8 am. We were taken by the cab driver to the hotel our check-in. The hotel I initially requested for, was unavailable, and the rooms in the Hotel Islander Inn, were a bit cramped. However, we decided to bear with it since we were to stay here for only one night.

After relaxing in the hotel till 3 pm, we proceeded for a guided tour of the Cellular Jail followed by the light and sound show inside its premises at 7 pm. The show was a brilliant display of the dark history and struggles of Port Blair during the pre-independence era.

A few hours later, tired and exhausted, we returned to the hotel for dinner and rested for the night.

Day 2: Corbyn’s Cove and trip to Havelock Island

The next morning we had breakfast and checked out of the hotel. The staff was generous enough, to let us leave our bags at the hotel reception while we visited Corbyn’s Cove Beach.

Next up, we returned to the hotel, picked our bags and moved the pier at 2 pm to catch a ferry to Havelock Island. In a few hours, we reached Havelock Island and checked into Gold Star Beach Resort. As it was raining in the afternoon, we couldn’t really go out to explore the Island. Our evening went by relaxing in our rooms and spending time with our friends.

Day 3: Visiting the magical Radhanagar Beach

The next day began on a lazy note since we had a late breakfast. It was followed by a visit to the Radhanagar Beach at noon and honestly, my wife and I were left speechless by its beauty and enormity. Radhanagar, proclaimed by many people as the best beach in India, was unlike any other. It stretched on for a mile in both directions and had soft cushion-like sand which gave way to crystal clear waters.

Around 3 pm, we returned to the resort, hired some motorbikes, and began exploring Havelock Island on our own. We also visited the quiet and serene Kala Patthar beach and later as darkness fell, we returned to our resort for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: The ultimate scuba diving experience

The next morning, we got up very early to take part in scuba diving. The adrenaline rush of our trip to Andaman was about to peak 30 feet below ground level.

In the beginning as I dived in, I felt scared due to the increasing pressure in my ear and nose. But gradually, I grew in confidence as my breathing underwater became more stable. Once I got the hang of things, it felt like swimming inside the best aquarium you have ever seen.

Later on, we returned to the resort, checked out, and proceeded for a ferry to Neil Island. We reached at 4 pm and immediately proceeded to the Tango Beach Resort here. After we had settled in, we had enough time for a visit to a bridge-like structure on Laxmanpur Beach made naturally out of stone.

Our day once again ended in the company of a lovely sunset and it was followed by dinner and long talks with our friends.

Day 5: Water activities at Neil Island

The next morning, post breakfast, we got ready and then proceeded for a visit to Bharatpur Beach. Here, we took part in awesome water activities like glass bottom boat tour and jet skiing and I was even lucky to catch a few jellyfish during our boat ride.

We enjoyed our visit to the Bharatpur Beach so much that we almost lost track of time. We quickly returned to the resort for our check out. Post lunch, we rested for a while at a restaurant next to the Pier and boarded our ferry back to Port Blair.

Our final evening was reserved for some souvenir shopping in Port Blair. Afterward, we moved to our hotel, had dinner, and retired for the night.

Day 6: Flying back home

On the final day of our trip to Andaman, we had breakfast and then got transferred to the airport for our flight back to Kolkata.

After spending six remarkable days in Andaman, never have I witnessed such joy and excitement in my wife’s eyes during a vacation. For that, I would like to thank TravelTriangle for making our vacation memorable. My wife and I made a promise to come back to Andaman, and explore the pristine places that we are yet to visit.

Be very careful and specific when selecting a hotel of your choice. Not all hotels in Port Blair are of great quality.
