Tourist Places In Delhi

Although Delhi in itself is geographically small in size, it encompasses a whole lot of nearby areas. Therefore, the number of places to visit in Delhi varies according to the interest and distance of the place. The historical monuments are spread across central and old Delhi, the famous local markets are spread across south, central and north Delhi and the upscale buildings are scattered across south, west, central and new Delhi. If you want to cover all the places in a day, it would be really hectic and exhaustive. We suggest you pick out a specific area per day and finish visiting them according to your itinerary.

South Delhi is fondly called the “happening area” of Delhi. South Delhi is home to some of the posh shopping malls, the famous local markets, endless food hubs, and a few historical sites. Sarojini Market, the hub of bustling, maze-like bazaars stretching across the narrow lanes of Delhi, is on every shopaholic’s bucket-list. If you think we are exaggerating, you must go there and live that! Take a historical detour to the grand Humayun’s Tomb which was built in the 16th century. Rightly famed for its exceptional Mughal architecture, Humayun’s Tomb holds 150 graves of the royal family. Certainly, only in Delhi, a monument can be built on a mystery of graves! The widely famed Bahai marvel, Lotus Temple, is seated in Delhi. Constructed in the shape of a lotus, a common symbol in Buddhism, Islam, Jainism and Hinduism. Come home to peace amidst this rushing Delhi! Spot the cheerful yet sophisticated Delhiites in some of the exclusive shopping malls in New Delhi. Hit the complexes of Select City Walk and DLF Place, Saket. Unleash the splurgy shopaholic in you and spend lavishly at DLF Promenade and DLF Emporio. If your nostrils are filled with the aroma of melting, crackling butter, tempered with herbs, you are in South Delhi’s famous Amar Colony! From flaky kachoris to succulent kebabs, you can eat all you want! Relive a day in the life of a Bohemian traveler while you scuttle down the jostling lanes of Lajpat Nagar. Whether you want to shop for miniature handicrafts or hand-crafted dupattas, you will find it right here. When the night sets in, hop around some of the liveliest bars in South Delhi. Among the best places to visit in Delhi at night, Hauz Khas market is the best. Once you are here, party like there’s no tomorrow( but at your risk please).

Central Delhi - mark the beginning of your own “Dilli Dekho” tour by covering some of the major tourist destinations in Old Delhi. While these may not be the best places to visit in Delhi in summer, winter is definitely the time of the year! Travel backwards in time when you travel to the historical monuments in Central Delhi. Start by visiting the Red Fort, the long-standing epitome of Mughal era, then move ahead towards India Gate, the memorial for martyrs of WWI, pay your homage at Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial at RajGhat, witness India’s Parliament House, and then spend your day leisurely exploring the hip markets and gastronomic food joints. Have a plate of spicy and tangy Dahi Bhalle, a spoonful of Daulat ki Chaat, a plate of crispy and stuffed paranthe, charcoal-grilled, tender meat kebabs, flavored, creamy kulfis, syrup-dripping, crispy jalebis, and a glass of thick lassi. Vibrant and sprawling circular Connaught Place market is definitely a shopper’s paradise in Delhi. Find all types of cotton garments, fashion jewelry, and much more. Also a tip, exercise your bargaining skills to the fullest.

West Delhi - the throbbing and lively West Delhi is a family-friendly arena. The Adventure Island in Rohini offers an array of adventure activities such as water coasters, boats & rides, jungle maze and more. Take an opportunity to seek blessings at the renowned Jhandewalan Temple which receives a large number of devotees every year. Enter the hidden oasis of greenery in the crowded city, only at the Rock Garden. Experience open air shopping at Dilli Haat. Explore the tiny indoor shopping malls which are famous for ethnic outfits, at Rajouri Garden and Tilak Nagar markets, respectively. The restaurants and breweries at Punjabi Bagh are among the happening places to visit in Delhi at night.

While Delhi as a tourist destination may not have an endless number of attractions, its periphery has a lot more to offer than expected!

North and East Delhi in a Day - Can’t find the best places to visit in north Delhi? Let us take another attempt to spot the major “Delhi points of interest”. Majnu ka Tilla, known as Delhi’s “Little Tibet”, is a slice of Tibet tucked away in the heart of North Campus University, Delhi. Find your own favorite cafe among a list of other cafes lined adjacently. We say it’s a must-visit place for college-goers and high school students.Relax at the Splash Water Park in GT Karnal Road. We bet you cannot resist the Harakiri, Multi Lane slides, splash pools, Mushroom Fall, and Ferris Wheel. East Delhi is home to one of the biggest temples in the world, the Akshardham Temple. Be a witness to the jaw-dropping architecture, a huge garden, informative boat-ride and what not! Sanjay Lake is a perfect bird-watching spot where migratory birds such as Common Teal, Shovellers, Tufted Pochard, Spot bill, Pintail, Yellow Headed Wagtail flock, especially during the winter.

    • Trip to Delhi

Manali, Delhi, Mathura, Agra & Jaipur. At Manali, 3N stay was totally disappointed due to waiting for driver (Om Prakash) for pickup from hotel for local sightseeing 3 to 4 hrs delay every day which impacted on our happiness, like that so many other nonsense experienced with driver due to non cooperation, etc...... In fact it was total loss for us & while return from Manali to Chandigarh on last day driver again started playing with us without proper cooperation. When we contact Mr. Naman from Travelloa holidays for the same. After so many discussions with driver, his mood changed. Finally we reached to Chandigarh. Hotel Monarch Residency at Manali was not wrathful, no proper maintenance. We felt happy by visiting Rohtangpass with our own. Except this everything in Manali trip was irritated us. Travelloa holidays excused for the same & trying to resolve by arranging compensation for the loss? Delhi, Mathura, Agra & Jaipur trip was awesome. We spent quality time & enjoyed trip due to proper guidance of driver ( Thankful to Mr. Pawan) & hotel stays. My understanding on travelloa holidays is they are good towards Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, may be other places....but definitely they don`t have right agents at Manali. Thanks to Travel triangle & travelloa holidays for memorable trip.

Travel Triangle is a great travel partner to trust. They understand our requirements and provide the quotes accordingly. Their customer service is excellent. The rooms booked was good and the cab driver (Saurabh) was really awesome. He made our trip truly memorable. • Trip to Himachal

Hotel in Dharamshala (Sai Taj Grand) was excellent with very polite staff. But the hotel in Dalhousie (Satyadev Grand) was horrible. The entrance and ambience was so poor that you wouldn't like to stay in the hotel. The staff was rude too and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. The cabs AC wasn't working and hence it was too hot in Haryana and Punjab when we were traveling from Delhi towards Dharamshala. The agent (Guruji Travels) refused to accept its AC is ill functioning. The driver (Vikas Kumar) was a very polite guy. One of the best drivers that I have ever travelled with. He needs all the desired appraisals from his company. Guruji Travels needs to be o be more customer centric as they are in service industry. Should give a heed to customers complaints and should check the hotels that they are giving to their customers. Himanshu from Travel Triangle was very helpful in listening to our complaints.

    • Trip to Singapore

We got our 10days trip for Langkawi & Singapore planned from travel triangle. All payments were done in advance as guided by TT. We were quite happy with the quick responses from TT as per our requirements in terms of sending quotations and rescheduling of itenary before finalizing one. The Andaman in Langkawi and Marina Bay in Singapore were our choice which obviously are best to stay...Grand Coperthone in Singapore was offered by TT as 5 star hotel which we will not grade above average. Yes, early check-in were welcomed in all three hotels. The first most thing we mentioned again and again to the travel agent that we want first priority passes in all activities as per itenary, which we were assured for same and we considered all activities charges payed well in advance to TT..but we ended up with disappointment with all standard admissions which we had to upgrade on our behalf right there at counter in Singapore. Also ground agent in Langkawi was not responding to our calls and blocked our number. We got stuck after visiting Crocodile park and had to arrange cab of our own on unexpected prices. Complete itenary was shared with us while we were boarding from Delhi airport which was to late to make any changes. Over all we made it a memorable trip with our efforts.

    • Trip to Himachal

Hi, Myself and my wife were on a trip to Himachal ( shimla- Kulu manali- Dharamsala- Dalhousie) for 8 nights and 9 days. Let me give feed back on everything . We paid huge amount for this trip , but what we got is not as per our expectations. 1) Hotels : Hotels in shimla and dalhousie and dharamsala are far from towns. And in shimla literally it took hell lot of time travelling to hotel and city in the huge traffic we have there. Food in shimla and manali is not as good as we expected. But dharamsala hotel is nice in all aspects except the distance . And I am not sure how the selection of hotels from either Travel Triangle or travel agencies happen. 2) While paying money or on itenary you do not mention any details on hill view from rooms , but later we get normal rooms with no hill view. If we ask we get reply that itne pise me itne hoga. After spending 54k just for package I don't think any customer thinks on spending 3-4 k on hill view rooms. Being in a closed rooms does not make any sense after travelling that much distance. 3) And on the travel, most of the things on itenary need us to walk or go through horses and all for which we need to spend again, u should clearly mention that on the itenary that those cant be reached by car. 4)most of the travel is simply wasted on mornings for travelling between Delhi- Shimla 12 hrs, Shimla-Manali 9-12hrs, Manali- Dharamsala 9hrs, Dharamsala- Dalhousie 4-5 hrs, again Dalhousie-Delhi 11-12 hrs, so I cam see almost 4-5 days are completely wasted on travel. Rather you should come with a good plan of organizing the travels by night and arranging local sight seeing something differently. 5) Again on the local adventure activities I can see the local authorities demand huge money with out any proper rate . Travel agencies should have tie up with some of the adventure activities organization's and provide coupons for us for normal price. We didn't perform any adventure stuff due to the huge price they demand. 6) About Driver: He is very nice, professional, humble, good and experienced on hill side driving. 1) Manali Rohtang pass , ofcourse again need to spend huge money from my pocket as there is no proper plan from travel agencies. 2) Natural beauty of Shimla and Manali .
