How to reach Jwalamukhi Devi Temple in Dharamshala
Although not a major tourist attraction, the Jwalamukhi Devi Temple in Dharamshala is renowned for attracting pilgrims and devotees from all over the country. It is one of the rare idol-less temples of India. It is believed that the tongue of Goddess Sati fell here, and that is the spot from where the blue underground flames spring up from. Even if you are not religious, coming here just to watch this amazing natural wonder is a must do activity.
The temple is located overlooking the towering Dhauladhar Range, on a bypass of the Dharamshala-Shimla Road. It is located almost on the outskirts of Dharamshala, and is nearly 20 kms away from the Jwalamukhi Road Railway Station. Despite the distance, the temple is well connected to the city center. You can hire taxis to take you there, or drive your own vehicle since the roads are pretty well maintained. On the other hand, there is a plethora of local transport available such as buses ad jeeps that offer regular services to the temple.
