About Chindi in Mandi
Away from the regular hassle of city life is a small village near Mandi in Himachal Pradesh which is known as Chindi. It is a place that is a true paradise for travelers and sits quietly in nature’s embrace. It is a perfect tourist destination for those who seek a pause from the daily rituals and busy schedules. Also known to sit at the epitome of tranquility, it is surrounded by apple orchards and showcases dense forests all around. In addition, the village also has several temples to welcome its visitors and give them a spiritual experience. Chindi Himachal Pradesh is also to be a small hill station that is situated on a ridge of the Karsog Valley and embraced with mountainous views and dense pine and deodar trees. The Chindi Karsog Valley especially attracts those who seek views in tall heights and love to breathe in the hilly, pure air. It is one of the most picturesque places anyone can visit and a perfect spot for a weekend getaway.
Although there are not too many markets and shopping complexes in Chindi, the rugs and handicraft items available in the few local markets are very famous. Attractions near Chindi Karsog
Karsog is at a distance of 16 km from Chindi and lies in Mandi district. The village is home to the main bazaar of the valley and is quite known for its agricultural activities, which include growing wheat, corn, rice and a variety of lentils and beans. Despite being small, the village of Karsog holds a magical essence within itself.
Temple of Mamleshwar Mahadev
The Temple of Mamleshwar Mahadev lies at a distance of 13 km from Chindi. It is said that the temple was found by the Pandavas back from the times of the Mahabharata. The religious tourist spot is embellished with attractive wood and slate structures. Festivals like the Shivratri and the Nalwar fair are greatly celebrated here.
Temple of Kamakshya Mata
At a distance of 17 km from Chindi lies the Kamakshya Mata temple which is a remarkable example of creative woodworking skills. It is made in honour of goddess Kamakshya and other figures like Vishnu, Bhairav and Nag Pundari. Here, you will also find a Shiva linga as the ‘bedchamber‘ of the goddess. Devotees from all over the country come here in hopes of getting a single glimpse of the goddess’ idol. During the months of June and July, a grand fair is held at this very temple.
