History of Avenue of Stars

Came into existence in the year of 1982, the world-famous harbour- Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront got transformed into Avenue of Stars in the year of 2004 with a vision to pay tribute to the local film industry and promote tourism. Attracting around a million patrons every month, Avenue of Stars has become one of the popular hotspots in Hong Kong. People come here to enjoy overseas cultural programs, thousands of exhibitions, musical and dance performances, and more. To provide a contemporary experience and even better ambiance, it got closed for repair works in 2015 so as to offer a brand new destination for entertainment by the year of 2018.

Highlights of Avenue of Stars

Reflecting the golden age of the Hong Kong film industry, the 100 stars represent the nation’s amazing cinema which commenced with the first silent feature film made in the year of 1913. To honour the achievement of movie stars, like: Bruce Lee, jackie Chan, Zhang ZiYi, Jet Li and others, the New World Group spent around 40 million HKD to bring this 400 metre long promenade into existence in the year of 2004, and later donated the park to the government of Hong Kong. With a 4.5 metre tall statuette of the Hong Kong Film Award at the entrance and special lighting on the floor, this place grabs the attention of every visitor, making it one of the best attractions in Hong Kong.

Avenue of Stars Hong Kong Light Show

Come here to enjoy the Symphony of Lights Show which starts at 8PM every night, and enjoy the view of 44 illuminated buildings surrounding the both sides of Victoria Harbour. Choose to stroll through the stores to buy fim related souvenirs, explore enticing cafés and restaurants serving global food, and much more. One can also get themselves snapped by professional photographers, and buy the print photos at quite cheaper rates.

To enjoy the regular exhibitions and performances that are held here, one needs to take prior tickets to enter and watch. There is also a huge mural here, which depicts scenes from various classic movies.
