About Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park In Bali
Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is located in the vicinity of Ungasan. It is a cultural park of Bali that is devoted to Lord Vishnu. The statue of the Hindu God is placed in the park is the Mascot of Bali. The structure is over 120 meters tall and has a giant statue of Garuda, the mythical bird who was the god's loyal companion. Spread across the property of 60 hectares the landmark is the focal point of Bali Tourism. Multiple events of national importance happen at the park holding capacity of accommodating over 7000 individuals. Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park in Bali gained famed after President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inaugurated the landmark in the year 2018.
Things to do in Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park
The park offers many entertainment activities to indulge in. Therefore watching the traditional performances and films is one of the first things to do here. The cultural dance shows are Kecak Garuda Wisnu, Nusantara, Garuda Wisnu Ballet and Balinese.
There is also an animated film that goes by the name 'Garuda Cilik Adventure' which is 35 minutes long and could be watched at the Garuda Cinema. The film has won many awards globally and also the best animated short film at the Indonesian Film Festival. Note that both the dance performances and the film can be experienced for free.
Visitors here can learn a lot about the history of Bali at the Amphitheater. All the historical data are displayed on the building walls of the parks. If you are in the city on a Monday then visiting this park is a must as every Monday the Park comes alive to host various food trucks, live music, and fire dance.
Dining at the Jendela open-air restaurant is another thing that cannot be missed at GWK Park. The panoramic view of the southern plains loomed by the chains of volcanoes, the sunset over the Indian Ocean leaves a lasting impression on the visiting diners. The menu at the restaurant is exclusively Balinese and Chinese with a little twist from the west. Do not forget to try Nasi Bukit Jendala Bali which is a plate with a rice tower surrounded by aromatic chicken curry, grilled fish and other seafood.
