About Raghunath Temple in Jammu

Raghunath temple is located in the heart of Jammu and is believed to be the largest shrine in North India.

The place has seven beautiful temples each has its own separate towers. The main temple is dedicated to Lord Rama, the remaining shrines are dedicated to other Hindu Gods and Goddesses. The was constructed by Maharaja Gulab Singh along with his son Maharaja Ranbir Singh during the year 1853 - 1860.

Architecture and Structure of Raghunath Temple

The Raghunath temple in Jammu boasts of seven beautiful shrines and stunning architecture. On the entrance of the temple, you will see a big portrait of Maharaja Gulab Singh and also an image of Lord Hanuman. The central shrine is occupied by Lord Rama who is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple houses images of many important Hindu Gods. One can see glimpses of Mughal architecture in the beautiful Raghunath temple. The temple tempts you with beautiful carvings and arches and is one of the things to look forward to.

One can also explore the library located inside the temple. You will discover very rich and rare Sanskrit books and manuscripts. Many people spend some time and check the rich collection available in the library.
