About Trekking in Kalladi Forest in Wayanad
Kerala is ranked amongst the top tourist destinations in India. Especially in the Southern India, there is no place to match up the natural beauty of this state. Not only is it being chosen to flee oneself from the pollution and commotion of the cities but is soon converting itself into an adventure land much like the Himalayan Ranges. It is enjoyed by the newlyweds as a honeymoon destination because of its serene and soothing green life around. Much the same way it fascinates the wildlife explorers who find their way into the jungle safaris and camps. Family vacationers too have lots of memories to carry back with them.
If you are ready for some adventure into the mystic lands, then there is no better place option than trekking and no better place than the forest land of Kalladi, Wayanad. The lush green forests surround you as you move step by step. The travelling reveals you the wonderful tea plantations adding to the beauty of the place. The state also holds pride in having ancient factories where tea leaves are processed, some even flourishing before the Independence of the Nation. This forest is located in the Western Ghats and it begins from the Chembra Ranges. This forest is house to sky reaching palms and short shrubs that tickle your feet. It is known for its spices and all through forest you can find your kitchen stuff hanging on trees. Cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, black and white peppercorns, nutmeg, bay leaves, star anise-name it and you will find it.This region is also known for cultivating paddy. The calmness of the environment, the purity of air,the aroma of the flowers all provide the peace of mind that we search for in day to day life.
Trekking here can be carried out easily in the month of December to March. But if you like the rains there is no better time than the Monsoon. It tends to be a little humid. The rains here are not like the ones in other part of country, raining incessantly. The sun comes out in between to give the much needed relief. Trekking usually is safer as it involves fewer threats from the Jungle and the assisting guides provide you with the best preventive measures. Difficulty levels can range from moderate to challenging. The trek hardly takes 6-7 hours to complete. You can camp tents in between the journey.Trekking provides an insight into the beauty of Mother Earth, where go can closely witness the life of beings other than humans. It is not a densely populated region thus hiking and trekking in the rain forests provide a way to rejuvenate yourself. The wonderful tree houses of Wayanad can tempt you to stay longer in the woods. They provide an overnight or two night stay at affordable prices. The sightseeing includes the Soojipara Water falls, Pookat lake, Bansura Sagar dam and the Eddakal Caves. These lovely dark forests are a treat for nature lovers.
