By train, deboard at Kozhikode or Nilambur and continue by taxi or bus to Meppadi. By air, the nearest airport is Calicut (Kozhikode) International, from where it is a taxi ride of roughly three hours to the Meppadi area. Because the last stretch runs through forest and hill terrain, guided transport and an early start are sensible.

Please check the current situation before planning a Kalladi trek. In July 2026 a landslide struck the Kalladi area near Meppadi, on the Chooralmala and Vellarimala side, with casualties reported. This is the same broad terrain hit by the major 2024 Chooralmala and Mundakkai landslides. Road access and trek permissions on this side of Wayanad can change at short notice during and after the monsoon, and the forest department may restrict or suspend guided treks when conditions are unsafe.

Before you travel, confirm the current access status with the Wayanad forest department or a licensed local operator, avoid the area during heavy rain or active weather warnings, and treat any "open" claim you see elsewhere with caution unless it is dated and official.
