Bird watchers can also have a good time here, especially during migration season, since birds from nearby areas come over here to rest their wings before they take flight again.
A unique fact about the Pookode lake kalpetta is that it is shaped roughly like the geographical map of India, but this shape can only be made out if seen from above. There are a variety of fishes and other marine life in the lake, although fishing is prohibited here. Pethia pookodensis, a rare species of cyprinid fish, can be found only in the Pookode Lake. You are also sure to elusive blue lotus in the lake, and the lake is generally fully covered with these beauties when it is flowering season. Pookode Lake timings are 9 am to 5 pm every day. Pookode Lake entry fee is INR 10 for adults and INR 5 for children. After spending quality time here, visitors can travel from Pookode Lake to Banasura Dam which is about 26 km away.
