History of Lonavala Lake

Built in the year 1876, the Lonavala Lake was a part of the conservation project initiated by the TATA Electric Company. The aim behind the construction of this lake was to preserve the catchment areas of Shirota and Valvan reservoirs. The main source of water for the lake is River Indrayani.
