About Visapur Fort

Standing at a great height of about 3556 meters above sea level, Visapur Fort trek is one of the best trekking trails in Lonavala. This majestic fort offers enchanting views of the valleys and the landscape. It is a perfect place for nature lovers and also for the adventure freaks who like to go for offbeat trekking places. Visapur trek is one of the best treks in Lonavala which is also one of the easiest treks in India. The fort is amidst the lush green valleys and looks heavenly beautiful.

History of Visapur Fort The Visapur Fort stands magnificently depicting the history and power of the Maratha rulers. It is often referred to as the twin fort of Lohagad fort but is built in more area as compared to the Lohagad Fort and also at a higher elevation. 

The Architecture of Visapur Fort

Numerous caves, veranda walls, and a fleet of stairs constitute the architecture of Visapur Fort. Inside the well, one can also find a well that as per folklores has been there since the time of Pandavas. The fort looks majestic with caves, Hanuman temples, and veranda walls. 

Trek to Visapur Fort

The whole area around the forest and the trekking trail is lush green and one will definitely find tranquility going for this trek. It becomes even greener during the time of the monsoon when the rain hit the surface. Visapur Fort trek is considered to be moderate and offers great amount of serenity to the person who finds solace in the lap of nature. One can click a lot of pictures of the naturally enchanting valleys from the top of the fort plateau. Visapur Fort trekking can be best enjoyed during the monsoon season, however, it can be quite steep during the monsoon season. One can also go for the trek during the winter season when the trek is less slippery and steep.

Things to Carry

Extra set of clothes and slippers.

Wear sturdy and comfortable pair of shoes.

It is a must to keep a raincoat with you.

Carry a personal first-aid kit.

Carry a waterproof case for your phone and wallet and also carry a rainproof cover for your backpack.

It takes around 2 to 3 hours per side for the trek. There are no sources of water in between the trek, so it is highly recommended that you carry your own bottles of water. The Visapur trek is best suited for friends, weekend holiday excursions and people who are a novice at trekking.

Quality of hotels and food services needs to be improved. The same feedback was provided to the travel agent too as we found the washroom needs modifications and cleanliness can be improved a lot. The food provided did not have right quality which needs an improvement. The points of Mahabaleshwar was mesmerising however the hours provided by the travel agent could have been little more as we had to really hurry in certain points. However, overall services were good and on time.

The trip and all the arrangements are good nothing issue on that part but the hotel you choose is not satisfactory. 1) No kitchen available 2) They insisted only for paid water bottles initially 3) Limited breakfast options available & quantity (means they are purchasing from outside & then provided to guests) Rest all is good. It was a memorable trip for all the guest. Tour manager SHREYA ji assist very well.

There are no arrangements for camping at Visapur fort. People who go for trekking to Visapur fort come back by evening. It is a one day trekking route and no facilities like camping, water etc are available throughout the route.

Visapur fort trek is considered to be a moderate one. It is recommendable trek for people who are novice at trekking and trying their hand on it for the first time. However, during the monsoon season the trek might get a bit difficult as the trails become steep and slippery.

One should try to go for the trek during the monsoon season as it is the prettiest during this time. Also, one should go for the trek by wearing comfortable clothes and a good pair of sports shoes as the trails are rocky and steep. Also, one should carry enough water as there are no shops or any source of water throughout the trekking trail.
