Coral Island In Pattaya

Walking Street In Pattaya

Walking Street is the roughly 500-metre pedestrian strip at the south end of Pattaya Beach Road, running down toward Bali Hai Pier, and it is the heart of the city's after-dark scene. It is free to walk and closes to traffic in the evening, coming alive from about 18:00 and peaking between 22:00 and 02:00. Along its length ...

Jomtien Beach In Pattaya

Jomtien Beach is the wide, easygoing stretch of sand about 3 km south of central Pattaya, and the beach most travellers pick when they want the sea without the crush of the Walking Street crowd. Locals call it Chom Thian. The sand runs for roughly 6 km, so there is room to swim, try a water sport or just sit with a plate of...

Pattaya packs more into one stretch of the Gulf of Thailand coast than almost any beach town in Asia. In a single trip you can stand under a 100-metre gold Buddha carved into a cliff at Khao Chi Chan, watch elephants paint at Nong Nooch, snorkel off Coral Island, and still make the 9 pm cabaret on Walking Street. This guide covers the 22 best places to visit in Pattaya in 2026, grouped the way you actually plan a trip, by families, by nightlife, and by beaches, with real timings, gate fees in Thai baht, and how to reach each one. Most travellers we help spend two full days here and pair Pattaya with Bangkok, which sits about two hours north.

Pattaya at a Glance: 22 Places, Fees and Timings

Best Places to Visit in Pattaya (Must-See First)

Start with the eight that define the city. Between them they cover Pattaya's temples, its one great garden, its headline island, and the strip that made it famous. If you only have a day, this is your day.

1. Sanctuary of Truth

A 105-metre teak temple on the Naklua headland, held together with wooden pegs and hand-carved end to end with Hindu and Buddhist figures. It has been under construction since 1981 and still is, which is part of the appeal, you often see the craftsmen at work. Give it 90 minutes. Entry is about 500 THB and it is open 8 am to 6 pm; go before 10 am to beat both the heat and the tour coaches. Sea breeze keeps the open halls cool. It is a short ride north of central Pattaya.

2. Nong Nooch Tropical Garden

Six hundred acres of themed gardens, a French-style topiary parterre, an orchid nursery, and a stadium that runs Thai cultural shows and an elephant show two or three times a day. Around 500 THB gets you the grounds plus a show, open 8 am to 6 pm. It sits about 15 km south of the city, so most people fold it into a half-day with Khao Chi Chan or Ramayana Water Park nearby. This is the single attraction families rate highest on our Pattaya trips.

3. Big Buddha Hill (Wat Phra Yai)

An 18-metre golden Buddha sitting on Pratumnak Hill, reached by a staircase flanked by naga serpents. Entry is free, it opens around 6:30 am, and the reward at the top is a clean view over Pattaya Bay. Dress modestly, shoulders and knees covered, since it is an active temple. Ten minutes from Walking Street but a world quieter. Pair it with the nearby Pattaya Viewpoint for sunset.

4. Khao Chi Chan (Buddha Mountain)

A 109-metre image of the Buddha laser-etched and inlaid with gold leaf into the face of a limestone cliff, commissioned for a royal anniversary. It is free, open roughly 6 am to 6 pm, and almost eerily calm compared with the beachfront. The reflecting reservoir in front makes the photo. It is close to Nong Nooch and Silverlake Vineyard, so those three make an easy countryside morning.

5. Walking Street

The kilometre of neon that most people picture when they hear Pattaya. It closes to traffic after 6 pm and fills with bars, clubs, live-music venues, seafood restaurants and street performers until about 2 am. It is loud and adult-leaning, so it is not a family stop after dark, but a daytime or early-evening walk is fine for anyone. Free to wander. For the full run-down of shows and venues, see our guide to things to do in Pattaya.

6. Four Regions Floating Market

A built-for-visitors canal market that recreates the north, north-east, central and southern regions of Thailand, with vendors paddling boats of noodles, mango sticky rice, handicrafts and souvenirs. Entry is around 200 THB, open 9 am to 8 pm, and you can hire a paddle-boat tour of the canals. Come hungry and haggle gently. It is a good rain-day option because much of it is covered.

7. Art in Paradise

One of the largest 3D illusion museums in Asia, where the paintings are designed to be stood in, so you appear to hang off a cliff or ride a wave. Around 400 THB for adults and 200 THB for children, open 9 am to 9 pm. Bring a phone with room on it, you will take a hundred photos. Budget about 90 minutes, longer with kids who will want every frame.

8. Coral Island (Koh Larn)

Pattaya's own island, and the correction worth making up front: Coral Island, known locally as Koh Larn, lies about 7 km off Pattaya in the Gulf of Thailand, not off Phuket (that is a common mix-up with Phuket's separate Koh Hae). You reach it from Bali Hai Pier, either the 30 THB public ferry, which takes about 45 minutes, or a speedboat at roughly 300 to 500 THB that does it in 15. Tawaen is the busy main beach with jet-skis and parasailing; Samae and Nual are quieter. Go for a full day, first ferries run from around 8 am. For timings and beaches in detail, see our Coral Island Pattaya guide.

Places to Visit in Pattaya for Family and With Kids

Pattaya is genuinely easy with children once you skip the nightlife strip. These are the parks, aquariums and shows that fill a family itinerary, most of them clustered south of the city near Sukhumvit Road so you can chain two or three in a day.

9. Underwater World Pattaya

The city's aquarium, built around a 100-metre acrylic walk-through tunnel with rays and reef sharks gliding overhead, plus touch pools that kids love. About 500 THB for adults and 300 THB for children, open 9 am to 6 pm. It is compact, so an hour and a half is plenty, and it is fully indoors and air-conditioned, which makes it the go-to when the afternoon turns hot.

10. Ramayana Water Park

The biggest water park near Pattaya, roughly 18 hectares with 21 slides, a wave pool and a 600-metre lazy river, themed around a jungle and an ancient ruin. Gate price runs around 1,000 THB or more but is noticeably cheaper booked online, open 10 am to 6 pm. It is about 20 minutes south near Silverlake. Arrive at opening for the big slides before the queues build.

11. Cartoon Network Amazone

A second water park, this one licensed around Cartoon Network characters, with a huge kids' aqua-play zone that suits younger children better than Ramayana's bigger drops. Tickets are about 1,190 THB, open 10 am to 6 pm, near Jomtien. If your children are under eight, pick this one; over ten, pick Ramayana.

12. Frost Magical Ice of Siam and Ripley's Believe It or Not!

Two rainy-day, beat-the-heat museums. Frost Magical Ice of Siam is an indoor sub-zero hall of ice and snow sculptures, around 500 THB, open 11 am to 8 pm, with warm capes provided. Ripley's, up on Beach Road inside Royal Garden Plaza, packs an oddities museum, a haunted house and a mirror maze, from about 650 THB, and stays open till 11 pm, so it doubles as an early-evening stop.

13. Mini Siam and Pattaya Dolphinarium

Mini Siam lays out miniature versions of world landmarks, from Wat Arun to the Eiffel Tower, for about 600 THB, open 9 am to 8 pm, and it is quick and cheap to enjoy. The Pattaya Dolphinarium runs dolphin and seal shows aimed squarely at younger kids, tickets around 500 THB. Neither needs more than an hour.

14. Tiger Topia (formerly Sriracha Tiger Zoo)

The long-running tiger park just outside the city reopened in 2022 as Tiger Topia Sriracha Zoo, with tigers, crocodiles and daily feeding shows. Entry is roughly 450 THB for adults and 250 THB for children, open about 9 am to 4 pm. It is around 30 minutes north toward Si Racha, so treat it as its own half-day. See our Sriracha Tiger Zoo page for the latest ticket and show details.

Places to Visit in Pattaya at Night

Pattaya after dark is more than Walking Street. The cabaret shows are family-friendly spectacles, the night markets are where the real shopping happens, and the viewpoint is quietly the best free thing you can do at dusk.

15. Alcazar and Tiffany's Cabaret Shows

The two grand transgender cabaret theatres are Pattaya institutions and, despite the reputation, they are dazzling, choreographed stage productions that families and couples both enjoy. Tickets start around 800 THB and shows run in fixed evening slots, usually about 6, 7:30 and 9 pm. Book the earlier slot and a mid-tier seat. Tiffany's is the original, running since 1974; Alcazar is the larger of the two.

16. Pattaya Viewpoint (Pratumnak Hill)

The free hilltop terrace between central Pattaya and Jomtien, with the classic wide shot of the bay and the beach curve. It is busiest at sunset for good reason, open roughly 7 am to 9 pm. Come 20 minutes before the sun drops, and combine it with Big Buddha Hill just above.

17. Thepprasit Night Market and Pattaya Night Bazaar

For shopping, skip Walking Street's mark-ups and go to the markets. Thepprasit is the big weekend one, Friday to Sunday from about 5 to 11 pm, with rows of clothes, phone cases, and some of the best street food in the city. The Pattaya Night Bazaar near Beach Road runs nightly and is more central. Both are free to enter; bring cash and small notes.

Best Beaches and Islands Near Pattaya

The coast is why Pattaya exists. Beyond Coral Island above, these are the beaches in town and the day-trip islands worth the boat.

18. Jomtien Beach

A calmer, 6-km stretch just south of the main bay, lined with restaurants and a far more relaxed feel than Pattaya Beach. Good for a slow morning, a swim, and jet-skiing or parasailing if you want it. Free, open to anyone, any time. This is where families and couples base themselves to stay out of the nightlife crush. Full details on our Jomtien Beach page.

19. Pattaya Beach

The central 4-km crescent along Beach Road, backed by the city's hotels and the whole watersports menu. It is busier and less pristine than Jomtien or Koh Larn, but it is convenient and the promenade walk at dusk is pleasant. Free. Use it for a quick swim or a banana-boat ride between sightseeing, not a full beach day.

20. Nearby islands and day trips (Ko Phai, Ko Sak, Ko Samet)

Past Koh Larn, the smaller Ko Phai and Ko Sak have clearer water and far fewer people, reached on snorkelling boat tours from Bali Hai Pier, about 20 km out. Further east, Ko Samet is a national-park island of white-sand bays that makes a longer day trip or an overnight. For a mainland alternative, Si Racha and its floating temple sit 30 minutes north. See our how to reach Pattaya guide for boat and bus timings.

Best Time to Visit Pattaya and How to Reach

Best time to visit

The comfortable window is November to February, when it is dry and warm at 25 to 32 C, which is also peak season, so book ahead. March to May turns hot and humid. The monsoon runs roughly June to October with short, heavy afternoon showers; hotels are cheapest then and mornings are often clear enough to sightsee. For a month-by-month breakdown, see our best time to visit Pattaya guide.

How to reach Pattaya

Most travellers fly into Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and drive down, about 130 km and two hours by taxi or airport bus. U-Tapao Airport (UTP) is closer, roughly 45 minutes south, and takes some domestic and regional flights. From central Bangkok, buses leave Ekkamai terminal every hour for around 130 THB. Within Pattaya, shared songthaews (baht buses) run the main roads for 10 to 40 THB a hop. Full routing is on our Pattaya travel guide and tips.

Pattaya in One or Two Days: a Simple Plan

Two full days cover the city comfortably. Here is how our trip planners usually sequence it.

When Day 1 Day 2
Morning Sanctuary of Truth, then Big Buddha Hill Coral Island (Koh Larn) by ferry from Bali Hai Pier
Afternoon Nong Nooch garden and show, or Khao Chi Chan Beach and watersports on the island, ferry back by 4 pm
Evening Pattaya Viewpoint at sunset, then Walking Street Alcazar or Tiffany's cabaret, dinner at Thepprasit Market

Families should swap Day 2's island for Underwater World, Ramayana Water Park and Art in Paradise, all indoors or shaded and close together.

Why Trust This Guide

Every fee and timing here was checked against each attraction's official information for 2026, and the places are ranked by what travellers on our own Pattaya trips actually rate, not by what pays to appear. Across the trips we have planned, families cluster in November to February and gravitate to Nong Nooch, Underwater World and Coral Island, while couples favour the Sanctuary of Truth and the cabaret shows.

"For Coral Island, take the first speedboat out of Bali Hai Pier and you will have Tawaen Beach almost to yourself before the ferry crowds land around 11," advises the TravelTriangle Thailand desk.

The check-in process was seamless. The accommodation itself was beyond my expectations.I really love the swimming pool and the buffet breakfast. Beyond the hotel, the itinerary you crafted for us was diverse and captivating. From exploring the bustling streets of Bangkok to immersing myself in the natural wonders of Phuket, every destination left an indelible mark on my heart. I will undoubtedly recommend your travel agency to my friends, family, and colleagues who are seeking an extraordinary travel experience. Your attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to customer satisfaction are truly commendable. Once again, thank you for making my Thailand trip so special. Yugal was our travel agent. He was always available from the day we booked the trip till we completed our trip. He was always a call away and was helpful to resolve all the queries. His commitment was commendable. We took 4 night 5 days package. The hotels we stayed were fortunately good. Cab serv
ices were not as much cooperative as expected. I would suggest to include most imp tourist spots of bangkok/pattaya in basic package itself. Like we had a bangkok city tour in our package but reclining budha/watarun temple was not part of it. Better to have it included in basic packages which would improve customer satisfaction. But overall it was a good and hustle free experience.

    Pattaya Travel FAQs

What are the top places to visit in Pattaya?

The must-see shortlist is the Sanctuary of Truth, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, Coral Island (Koh Larn), Walking Street, Big Buddha Hill and Khao Chi Chan. Add Art in Paradise, Underwater World and a cabaret show if you have children or a second day. Between them they cover Pattaya's temples, its island, its garden and its nightlife, which is the full spread most visitors want.

How many days are enough for Pattaya?

Two full days are enough to cover the city comfortably. One day handles the temples, Nong Nooch and Walking Street; a second gives you Coral Island and either the family parks or the cabaret shows. Many travellers pair Pattaya with two or three days in Bangkok, which is about two hours north, for a rounded week.

What is the best time to visit Pattaya?

November to February is the best window, dry and warm at 25 to 32 C, and also the busiest, so book ahead. March to May is hot and humid. The June to October monsoon brings short afternoon downpours but the cheapest hotels and clear mornings, so it still works if you sightsee early and keep an indoor option like Underwater World in reserve.

What are the best places to visit in Pattaya at night?

Walking Street is the headline nightlife strip, closed to traffic after 6 pm. For a show, the Alcazar and Tiffany's cabarets are dazzling family-friendly productions from about 800 THB. The Pattaya Viewpoint at sunset is the best free option, and Thepprasit Night Market (Friday to Sunday) is where the real shopping and street food are.

Is Pattaya good for families with kids?

Yes, once you stay clear of the nightlife strip after dark. Underwater World, Ramayana Water Park, Cartoon Network Amazone, Art in Paradise, Frost Magical Ice of Siam and the Dolphinarium are all built for children and mostly clustered south of the city. Base yourself around Jomtien Beach rather than central Pattaya for a calmer stay.

What is the entry fee for Nong Nooch, Sanctuary of Truth and Underwater World?

As indicative 2026 gate prices, Nong Nooch is about 500 THB including a cultural show, the Sanctuary of Truth about 500 THB, and Underwater World around 500 THB for adults and 300 THB for children. Several attractions are cheaper booked online in advance, and temples like Big Buddha Hill and Khao Chi Chan are free. Confirm current prices at each venue.

How do you get to Coral Island from Pattaya?

Head to Bali Hai Pier at the southern end of Walking Street in South Pattaya. From there, take the public ferry or a speedboat to Na Baan Pier or Tawaen Beach Pier on the island. Songthaews and taxis run to the pier from anywhere in Pattaya.

How do you reach Pattaya from Bangkok?

It is about 130 km and two hours by road. Most people fly into Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and take a taxi or airport bus down, while U-Tapao Airport (UTP) is only about 45 minutes south. Hourly buses run from Bangkok's Ekkamai terminal for around 130 THB. Within Pattaya, shared songthaew baht buses cover the main roads for 10 to 40 THB.
