Our weekend trip to Dalhousie was an adventure my friends and I would never forget. Right from the planning to the execution to the the actual trip, everything happened in a jiffy and before we knew, I was on a bus to Dalhousie with my best friends.
TravelTriangle was found via a Facebook ad showcasing the various weekend getaways it offered and after a careful discussion with my friends, we decided to opt for Dalhousie & Khajjiar for they were one of the most greenest hill stations in India!
Day 0: The beginning of a wonderful trip!
Fast forward to the trip day, we boarded our bus from Karol Bagh at 7 pm and were all ready for a 14 hour journey. Luckily for us, the journey turned out to be quite eventful for as soon as everyone had settled, there was an “Ice breaking session” where our coordinators asked everyone to introduce themselves and tell a truth and lie about themselves – while the other people guessed if it was true or not. This helped everyone loosen up, after which we started playing dumb charades which was fun, and later at around 9:30 pm, we took a halt for dinner at famous dhaba lane in Murthal.
Day 1: Hello Dalhousie, you beauty!
We woke up to the sunshine entering our bus and later stopped for a tea break at a Dhaba just before Pathankot (approx 7 km away). The hills began appearing just as we passed Pathankot and that journey of approx 3 hours to Dalhousie was simply mesmerizing.
Later, upon reaching Dalhousie at 10 am, our coordinators allotted everyone their room and we relaxed for the day ahead. At around 1 pm, we had our lunch and then headed towards Lakkad Mandi, which is the starting point for the Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary Trek.
The Kalatop trek is a 3 km trek one way and took us through a beautiful forest of high pine trees. It was so beautiful that nobody could resist clicking pictures on the trek. As we got deeper into the forest trail, the temperature started dipping and we could feel the nip in the air.
The view from the top was beautiful and we could see the majestic snow capped mountains from the sunset point. Later, after soaking in the mountain view, we savoured some hot tea and crispy pakoras while experiencing the sunset – it was bliss!

Post the snacking session, we headed back to Lakkad Mandi and reached our hotel at around 8 pm. After relaxing and having dinner, it was bonfire time with some music (courtesy TrravelTriangle team) in hotel premises. Everything suddenly got even smoother than before and we all had fun relaxing in the friendly musical vibe of the hills – away from all the hustle of the city life.
Day 2: The Switzerland of India

After having breakfast, we left for Khajjiar, which is also known as mini Switzerland and it truly lives up to its name. The beautiful landscape makes you fall in love with the hills even more and we also enjoyed horse riding and paragliding here. Our coordinators even clicked some amazing pictures from their company DSLR.
Later, post the photo session, we left for the 1.5 km Dainkund trek and on our way saw some really breathtaking valley views and wild daisy flowers. And to make our trek even more rocking, we took a Bluetooth speaker, provided by TravelTriangle and grooved on to some crazy tunes. At around 7 pm, we returned to our hotel and got ready for the DJ night arranged by Travel Triangle. Everyone danced their heart out till DJ stopped playing. It was unreal!

We checked out from our hotel and visited Panchpula waterfall on our way back and everyone here clicked pictures and grooved to the music playing in the Shiva Cafe near the waterfall.
Although no one was in a mood to leave that place, but we had to. And so after having lunch, we left for Delhi around 3 pm. The 14 hour journey was once again made easy with games like Antakshari. In the night around 9 pm, we once again took a halt for dinner at the famous Haveli restaurant in Jalandhar and later reached Delhi next morning.
It was time to say goodbye to fellow travelers who were more like friends by now.
- On our way back from Kalatop , it was dusk, and few of us in group started talking about ghosts which scared everyone. It was quite fun :P
- DJ night, where everyone danced like crazy, and the fact that the DJ played past the time limit of 10 pm.
- At Panchpula waterfall where everyone grooved to the music playing at Shiva café and how we made the cafe owner our personal DJ.
