History of Chail Palace
The Maharaja of Patiala built a new summer retreat in Himachal Pradesh for his family in 1891. Today that royal retreat is converted into one of the finest heritage hotels in Shimla area. Covering an estate of 75 acres, this palatial retreat presents spectacular views of the Himalayas. Known for its beautiful architecture, the hotel is run by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC).

Attractions of Chail Palace
Established in 1976, Chail Wildlife Sanctuary spreads over an area of 10,850 acres. It is home to rich flora and fauna. Ringed by a thick cover of deodar trees, Chail Cricket Ground is the highest cricket ground in the world. In its heyday, the Maharaja used to play polo and cricket here, today it is used for outdoor games by students of Chail Military School.
