About Tamblingan Lake In Bali
Lake Tamblingan is a place that has a lot of history. The lake happens to formed inside a caldera from the ancient times. It is one of the three lakes that were formed after a volcanic crumble. The other two lakes are Lake Bratan and Lake Buyan. The beautiful lake is located on the slopes of the serene Mount Dimples in the district of Banjar, Bali. It is surrounded by dense forest offering a cooler lake environment. The lake is for far the best way with regards to exploring the forests of Bali.
Story of Tamblingan Lake
Tamba means drugs and Elingang means spiritual abilities. These two words are combined together to form the actual name of the Lake. There is an interesting story associated with the lake too. It is described in Kanda Deity Purana Lontar Kutara Bangsul that the village once was exposed to an outburst of a plague epidemic. One person who was infected by the plague happened to cure himself of the disease by the help of the lake water. He prayed to the gods and the spiritual capabilities of the lake later cured the entire village. Therefore this was the union of drug and spirituality making the beautiful Tamblingan Lake in Bali.
Things to see in Tamblingan Lake
Once you begin your trek from the Tamblingan Jungle, you would come across many old temples sharing legends from the past. The entire duration of the trek last about 2-3 hours. The trek would also take you deeper to the forest of Bali where you can see the fantastic view of the lake and enjoy the natural environment. Migrating birds are another good thing to see while you trek this amazing lake. Balinese long tail monkey, black squirrels, giant old trees, and few temples are some of the common sights to expect during your time at the lake. You can also take a boat ride once you've reached the lake. Take your time and embrace the heart of Bali's jungle on the boat.
